hmmm... not exactly sure what a speaker whore would be :-)
maybe someone who whoreded speakers? I do that.
Reminds me of a joke
A man walks into a doctor's office with a pretty significant head wound.
"What happened?" asked the doc.
"I called my girlfriend a two-bit whore" said the patient.
"...and then what?" queried the MD.
"She hit me on the head with a sackful of quarters!"
Thank you, thank you... I'm here 'til Thursday!

I don't have that many either (4 pairs without counting HT and the Atriums); it's more the fact that I can't stay put..I have one pair (Dynaudios) that gives me all I want and probably will never sell, but I keep wanting to try new ones.
Oh, that's four pairs plus one coming :o

We all have known that for quite some time.... Are you saying you just came to that revelation??
I'm down to 5 pairs worth mentioning and a few pairs of Tannoy, Vifa, and Silver Flute drivers waiting to be implemented.

But I like it...
At least you admit and confess you are a whore.

Yup; you're missing the SDA 1B's and Thiel 3.6's. I still own the Monitor 7B's with peerless and SDA CRS +'s (both with upgraded xovers), the Dynaudio Contour 1.3 Mk II's, and the recently added Magnepan MMG's.
All I can say is it has been fun as hell, and I would do it all again. The only speakers that I would probably buy again are the Carver AL-III's and the Tylers.....but there are soooo many to try out there :)

I have to say the 1.2 TL's. All of them are great speakers, all of them have great SDA effect, but the fact that you could enjoy the 1.2's at very low volumes, and know that you could just as well raise the volume and shake the house....it was fun.

The police need to round all of you up for a few nights in jail, pay a hefty fine/lawyers fees, Confiscate ALL gear leaving behind just ONE set & auction off the rest!!!
You should all be fitted with GPS tracking devices that will alert whenever you come within 50 feet of any kind of store that sells audio gear! One wrong move & you are confined permanantly to your homes!:p

Join me in the club. In the last month I have purchased a SDA-1c, Monitor 10A, Monitor 7, SDA SRS 2. I already have pairs of RT800, RT800i's, two pairs of F/X30i's, LSI center and CS400i. I started years ago with little monitor 4's which I still have. I am not going to mention all of the other speakers I have. My 13yr. old daughter begs me not to get any more speakers. My 9 yr. old son just smiles. I think my son may have the same affliction as I. Can someone help us. We are like moths to a flame with these things. This site is very addictive.

I don't have enough corners in my bathroom to mount them.....
I am pretty low on the totem pole here.....
Not in use:
SDA1b's
Polk RM6600 HT set.
MTX 10" sub (currently on loan to brother in law)
In use:
Basement - Polk Monitor 10's
................Avia bookself system (by the treadmill)
Main level - Polk LSi home theater (with dual SVS subs)
Bedroom - Polk Rti6's (with a borrowed Polk Micropro 2000 sub)
If it helps at all, I am looking for a pair or Monitor5jr's and center to go with my basement system.
I feel like I have a fairly benign case of AudioPhilius whorism (at least compared to Ricardo).... :D

Fascinating thread. . .
in addition to SDA SRS 2's (picking up Sat.), SDA-2B's, and a Sony 5.1 system, I have a Bose 321 Gemstone System in a corner location where nothing else would work. It does a fairly decent job but I guess could never be considered audiophile.
This may be a stupid question, (and I don't own any so don't ban me), but does anyone serious about music own a pair of old Bose 901's?
bluecomet

I own a pair of 901 series 6 and two sets of 901 series 4. I have the bose spatial receiver that was built for Series 4 901's. It is a nice receiver. It has a spatial effect that is unique. I am sure I am in the minority when I say the bose 901's are not a bad speaker. I think you have to work with them and have the right room for them. They are not for everyone but in the right conditions can be a very good speaker. Of all the speakers I have my monitor 10A's and SDA-1c are my favorite at this point. I recently bought SDA SRS 2's and am just beginning to explore there potential. At the end of the day they may be my favorites.

My brother-in-law bought a pair in the late seventies. He was an officer in the Air Force and always bought a brand new double-wide located just off base to build equity upon each new assignement. He'd then sell it to an incoming officer (for a profit) when he transferred out.
The point is, he always had about a 28' wide by maybe 22' deep open area in these homes that made the 901's sound good.
He's retiring now and wants me to have them. I think the addition of these to my collecton might qualify me as a speaker ho.
