For all HK 3490 owners please...
Say gang, any of you have issues with hooking your turntables up to your HK 3490's? I've got a Stanton STR8-100. Seems to be a digital out. Can't hook it up to my phono analog in, it makes a horrid cracking sound that can't be adjusted by volume. Sounds like a great way to blow your speakers and kill your receiver in one fell swoop. But when I hook it up to my tape/vid/etc Input it sounds like dog balls. Extremely low volume and horrible quality of sound. Any suggestions? Should I just bite the bullet and get a new turntable? And if so, are Technic 1200's still the bomb? I'm not into all that high fidelity thousand dollar turntable's and such. I love my vinyl, but what I love is the analog warmth and that snap crackle and pop. I use AIFF for my sonic purity. Blasphemous, I know. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
FB
