I have a 5.1 setup with a complete line of polk tsi series, floorspeakers tsi 300, rear surround tsi 200, center channel & the subwoofer 111. This is all connected to a yamaha rx-v663 receiver. The problem is the subwoofer doesn't produce any noticeable bass sound. I have it hooked up with an LFE cord, set all the speakers to small and the bass to subwoofer only. The sub is so quiet even when I have my ear to it.

80 on the receiver and all the way I think 140 on the sub.

Okay well thats not the problem have you checked your connections and also look at your audio output what that is set on. Try switching to different audio outputs like from stereo to dolby and all the others see if that helps.

Can you hear anything at all out of the sub? A friend called me after I sold him my old Onkyo HTIB saying that the sub wasn't working, eventhough it was fine a few days before when I pulled it all down and stored it. Does your sub have a "power light" or a light that is more than likely red or yellow in standby/off mode and green or blue when on. If so, what color is it? Check the connection to your reciever, there is normally two purple connections in the back and alot of people hook up the sub cord to the wrong input on the sub. Make sure it is plugged into the purple input on the back of the reciever that is labeled subwoofer pre-out. My friend had it hooked up to the wrong one, switched it and it worked just fine.

I can barely hear bass coming from the sub when I have my ear to it. There is a green light on in the back and the sub is connected with the lfe cord to the subpreout.

Do you hear your Sub in general? Try turning down all of your speakers and then seeing if you hear the bass incase your floor's are making it feel like your sub is on.
Is it definitely on though? Just quiet? That's what I'm trying to have you figure out. It could be the amplifier in it is going out.

I'll try turning down the other speakers and see. In general its just quiet, I hope the amp isn't going out. I just bought the sub two months ago.

If you just bought it two months ago, you my be able to refund/exchange it? It sounds like it is hooked up correctly, maybe check your settings on your reciever, otherwise I would research a possible return.

Last night I tweaked the settings on the LFE and subwoofer. Still no noticeable bass, there is some bass coming out when I have my ear to it. Maybe its the lfe cord, I'm going to try the parallel wiring to see if that might change things.

I ran the auto setup on my yamaha receiver, for the first time I finally heard the subwoofer. The setup had the crossover at 60 all the speakers on large. Also, I have the dolby dynamic range off. I can actually hear the sub now.:)

I had a similar experience with my Onkyo receiver. The sub was dead quiet. Came to find out the level for the LFE output was almost at minimum due to the auto eq.
