I just purchased Polks Micropro 4000 and I needed help with setting it up. Do I run audessey on my avr then run the room optimizer or the other way around. Also when I run audessey and/or room optimizer do I set the sub to max (40)? Will I need to use my SPL meter? Also is there some kind of fan built inside the sub, sounds like a fan running when I put my ear close to the woofer? Any help will be appreciated

I would run room optimiser on the sub first.

Set the sub to 30 and run audessey. If it adjusts your subwoofer channel on the AVR above +7, move the sub volume control higher.

No fan that I am aware of - might be worth a toll free call to polk tech support about that one. If it was a 60 cycle hum, you would hear it plenty far away from the sub. I will put my ear near the sub tonight and let you know if I hear anything. (only a 13" box sitting on the floor - plenty far away for me to miss a fan noise - I have a micropro 2K so the amp will probably be different anyway) How far away from yours can you still hear the fan??

I can hear the noise about a foot away. Might be the digital amp or something . Hopefully someone else can chime in and help out.

I just hooked up my new uPro4k, and I hear some kind of noice from the driver as well. Not sure if its the same, almost a swishing, but only when its moving heavy. I have to have a closer look at it. I don't hear anything steady.

Hey that oval-like radiator on the bottom is pretty cool. I didn't see that in any pics yet, I'll take a pic and upload it.

Onyko 805. Just plugging it in to the outlet got the hum/fan noise.

Then that's not the same as my issue. Mine is brand new out of the box. I'll look further into my issue separately.

Did you ever get this sorted out? Also, what are your impressions of the MicroPro line? I'm thinking about picking a 1000 after I lock in an amp.

I took a look at it for him. I could not hear any sound from the cone when hooked up to my sonosub till the gain was at full or near full with my ear right next to it. Then I listened through the port of the 5 foot "echo" chamber(kinda like listening to a sea shell)and I could hear it then. It is a 1000 watts digital/switching amp. Much more than most plate amps. Most amps are about 300 watts. There was no cone movement at all. No DC voltage, and no ac voltage. Any voltage was at to high a frequency to be picked up by an AC multi meter. The sound was coming from the from the speaker. It did this at near full gain. You should never have your sub set that high, and to hear it you need your ear right up to it, or in an "echo chamber". I spoke with him, and the seller. They had two amps for it. Both did the same identical thing. I feel there is no concern with it. It is at full gain and your ear has to be right at it to barely be able to hear it. Keep in mind that the sub I was using is a Dayton Titanic MK III with a very hard cone. I used that driver because I knew if it was going to be heard it would be heard on that hard of a driver. If you turn your receiver up all the way with speakers hooked up to it you most likely will hear the same kinda sound faintly from your speakers.

No problem I am glad I was able to help, and it Twernt nothin with the Polk relay system:) Now you have a spare. I was asking the seller who owned the second amp. I was even thinking about how I could make an offer to to take it off your hands. It moved that 800 watt Titanic hard no problem. Never got anywhere near hot. Not even barely warm. If you ever are in the Atlanta area you owe me a six pack or Arizona Iced Tea R/X:D
