View Full Version : RTiA1s for (HT) rears?

Lately I've been kind of hanging low here at CP, plotting -- reading more than posting.

I'm planning my next project -- "building" an HT system from scratch (I did the same thing earlier this year with a 2 channel system, and much like that process I want to do it one time and do it right, so to speak).

Right now, I'm leaning heavily toward the RtiA line. For the fronts, I'm thinking RtiA5s (there's been a lot of favorable things said about them around here.) Now, as for the rears, at first I was thinking RtiA3s but then I got to thinking that maybe the RtiA1s would suffice for such a job.

Thus, I'd like to see if any folks have used RTiA1s for rears in a Home Theater set up.

Or perhaps, I should also ask if others think that there would be a big enough differnce between the two to justify the extra $50-$100 for the RtiA3s (when of course I could use that money for something else in my future system)

Norm,

While I'm not using the A's I am using RTIs. I had Rti-6 and CSI5 in the front with R50 in back.. it sounded pretty darn good but I needed more in certain aspects.. so I sold the R50s and picked up some RTI-8s. I'll put the 8's in front and move the 6s to the back. It should sound somewhat similar to what your trying to achieve and I'm expecting awesome results.

I should have it setup like you described by some time early next week... however, i'm guessing its probably ok to spend the 50-100 on decent stands for the 1s than to upgrade to the 3s. Just my 2 cents.

The RTiA1s should make a fine surround.

I still have my RTi4s as surrounds - good match for my 5.1 setup in a mid-ish sized family room.

I guess it depends on your setup and if you have the room for bigger speakers, or if you have to deal with constraints - like I did and had to go with a smaller sized speaker mounted to the ceiling.

I have the A1's as surrounds with RTi10's and CSi5. They blend well and sound great.

I've used both rti a3's and a1's with my rti a5 fronts for HT and they both sound great. If interested in the rti a3's I have a pair for sale in perfect condition with original box and papers for $185 (black)

Also the fxi a series surrounds sound great as well. You can't go wrong with the rti a line for HT.

I also have the RTi A1 as rears with the RTi 10 and fronts and the Csi 5 as a center. This set-up sounds great.

Thanks to all who responded and gave their opinions. I appreciate it and, given the size our living room, it looks like I will in fact go for the RtiA1s. Leroy, that is a great deal on RtiA3s. In fact, I was eyeing them in the FM about a week ago and if I were to go for that model, I would definately pick them up. Good luck with the sale!

I'm now going to start another thread related to the RTiA series on amplification! So, feell free to chime in.

My father-in-Law has a 6.1 system with 4 A1's, a CSiA4 center and FXiA4 surround back.

It sounds really good - I think you will be fine with the A1's...

I have RTiA3 as rear with RTi8 as front and they really sound great.
