Yamaha 663 and the Wii

Hi everyone, new to the site. I have a yamaha 663 and I love it! I hooked up my Wii today as well as my YDS-11 Yamaha Ipod connector. The Wii is connected via component cables and the YDS-11 is connected via the cable it came with. I have one HDMI cable going from the receiver to my TV.
When I turned on my Wii the video comes up in 4:3 instead of 16:9! I have the Wii settings set up correctly in the console to display widescreen and 480p but it is only showing 16:9. Also the Ipod is set up with widescreen on but the videos are only displaying as 4:3 as well.

Any chance you have some Polk speakers hooked to your rig?

Check your settings on the display aspect ratio. Also page 43 in the Wii manual:
"In addition to using Wii's widescreen setting you must also adjust your TV's options to take advantage of it's widescreen modes.
Some tv sets will not change to widescreen display even when receiving widescreen input from the Wii console":eek:

I run a Wii to a Yam 663 and to a Panny TX 42PX77U and get the wide screen no problem. What display are you using?
