The Christmastime financial gods have frowned upon me (expectedly) and I'm getting rid of some excess gear.

I kept this around for HD-DVD playback as well as standard DVD's since it's a really great upscaler. On my 720p projector, this looks better than the PS3 and Pio Elite. I originally anticipated making this a transport for a DAC since it's absolutely perfect for that, but it never materialized. I did test it's basic CD playback, which was actually surprisingly adequate. This player is loads better at upconversion than any other $100 player you will find.

In 9/10 shape, comes with original manual, remote, box. Remote has some scratches on it, but not detrimental in any way.

$100 plus shipping or $130 shipped and Paypal'd

I had one of these and it does upscale Standard DVD's very, very good. I think better than my PS3 as well. Hope it sells.

Have you ever had any problem with the door opening for the tray to slide out? Does it have the latest firmware update?

Door opens perfectly for tray to slide out. The firmware on the machine is 2.2, which always worked fine for me. I never had any problems with the HD-DVD's I own. No need to upgrade firmware, but new buyer can easily do so. I already boxed it up or else I would do it myself.

I have the HD-A1, and you're right, its a great upconverting DVD player, if nothing else, I think the HD-XA1 has more bells & whistles. I wouldn't mind having another, if for nothing else but to play standard DVD's & CD's.

Exactly. I've heard that coupling this as a transport with a decent DAC will make a killer setup.

You're right, I had mine with an Entech 205.2 and I was impressed with the sound. Are you firm on the $130.00?

Firm for now. It's just that after Paypal and shipping, netting less than $100 is almost not worth getting rid of the player. It's a big, heavy box.

That's cool, I'm interested, I'll let you know.

Anyone wanting a great dvd player shouldn't even question the price. Even @ the deepest discounts(while HD DVD was still alive), these things were almost $500 when new. Retail was almost $1000. You will not find a better upconverter for anywhere near this price. I wouldn't sell mine for anywhere close to this price. The build quality is FAR beyond any dvd player I've seen for less than $500.
