I am planning on having a electrician install a dedicated outlet for my new amp. The breaker box is about 20 feet away so that should be simple. I am going to remove the paneling and put up sheet rock soon so thats no problem.
Do I just have him run a separate 20 amp breaker with a line to the outlet? Do I have to use a special outlet?
Do I only plug the amp into that line?
Alot of Do I's there LOL
I hope I'm on the right track. :o

You would have a 20amp breaker, 20amp wire 12/2 with a 20amp outlet. The 20amp outlet can receive both 15amp or 20amp AC cords. You don't need a special output but you can replace it with a nice outlet later ;)

Dude seriously have him wire 2 circuits at 20 amps. The price difference is next to nothing. I just did one for Early B.

Since you've plan to do the dedicated audio power line, why not install power port?

And also, do two separate 20A lines, for future expansion, while you're at it. I would and I did. The second line is used to feed the subwoofer. YMMV.

Yes not that hard just tell him you need 1 or 2 (your choice but maybe what Ben stated cheap to add another one) 20 amp outlet(s). He should know it requires 12g wire and 20 amp breaker / fuse.

I think you'll need 12/3 wire for two outlets.

Hi,
Because it is so easy now, have one for digital gear, one for analog, and one for the amps and one or two (switched and unswitched) for lights. Then you will never wish for another!
