Ok. Long story short...maybe. I've got this spare Toshiba M35X-S161 laptop that gave me the typical woes of problems with the power plug in the back. I took this mofo apart so many times, I feel I have an intimate relationship with it beyond anything I've ever known. (laugh here) After taking the keyboard out at least a 100 times (no shit), that little white clip broke on it a year and a half ago and, suffice to say, the keyboard has issues now and doesn't work. I'm going to buy a keyboard on Ebay to replace the original as the little ribbon cable has been "fubar'd" at the connection point. That's no biggie. The thing is, I need that little fuggin white clip that locks the ribbon in place to the motherboard. How the hell do you come up with one of those? I have looked high and low and there is even a seller on Ebay that sells those clips that "might" work for around $30. Ouch. (take one in the brown there, huh?)

Sooo.... Do any of you PC guru's out there have a stash of BS parts that might have one of these clips? Am I just pissing in a fan trying to fix this thing? It "does" work if you tie in a regular keyboard via USB but that defeats the purpose of a laptop. I do have a newer Gateway and an HP desktop and don't need another but I thought of giving it to my mom or maybe sticking it in a spare bedroom for company as I have wireless in my house.

Any thoughts and/or input is greatly appreciated.... Happy Holidays to all.

I actually know the exact piece you are talking about since I had some keyboard issues on a laptop I got from my brother-in-law. A couple places you might check are Fry's, Microcenter or even Radioshack. I noticed there those same types of connections on thin circuit boards where space is limited (like when I had to take apart my dad's cd changer for his car). You may luck out at one of the places above, that or possibly a computer repair place might have some laying around.

Good luck man.

The downtown Dallas 1st Saturday sale may have something.
They hold it just under Woodall Rogers highway on the North side of the West end area.
I haven't been in a while, but it's nowhere as big as it used
to be when it was on Ross. It used to be a huge all night affair starting
The 1st Friday night of the month, running into about 2 pm Saturday.
Geek city plus. Anymore, it's just some guys liquidating some big company
lease programs. There's always a lot of Dell stuff. It only runs Saturday
mornings now. Maybe you can score a parts pc. Or try CL.

Dude, I saw that laptop BIN on ebay for like 229. Also, there's another guy with a mainboard from one that he busted the power plug on, you can prolly get it for 25-30 bucks and have for parts.

Both sound like good options to me. You really don't want to break those clips if you can help it, but they're not really designed for 100+ removals either IMO .
