Her career spanned six decades....dubbed the "most exciting woman in the world" by Orson Welles...

Loved her voice, have to spin Santa Baby one more time today.

Oh wow, just heard Santa Baby on Music Choice yesterday. Caught myself smiling to it.

Pretty amazing. She dies on the day when we celebrate by spinning her most well known (I think?) song.

I just read that she was born and raised about 20 miles from where I live in S.C.!
Apparently, she wasn't too fond of the area, (because she was bi-racial),
she wasn't treated too good growing up back then:(

Agreed. Incredible actress. A true triple threat -- dancer, singer, actress -- like so many entertainers back in those days.

And she had the guts to speak out against the Vietnam War, so she was unable to get work in the USA for several years thereafter (so much for freedom of speech:rolleyes:).

Where in SC are you from? I grew up in Florence/Columbia.
