WOW that's a really nice receiver, but I feel it's over priced for what you get. All Pioneer Elite's are large in size, and a lower bit one may be nice also if you consider adding amps from there pre amp outputs.

Love Pioneer Elite stuff really nice. I use an older elite myself.

yeah, it sure costs a ton. I am still partial to yamaha, but it shows that pioneer may be upping quality. Don't know for sure, though, as I havent listened to it.

I replaced an Onkyo High mid AVR, with what I use now and love the way it handles the processing of 2 channel and HT modes. Very smoooooooth. :D

yeah, I heard someone in a recent threa mention the 09 so I looked it up and was almost floored. really it's just the LCD screen that made this thing seem so crazy just seeing it, but it's specs and that endless list of features are pretty impressive...

That's a damn nice AVR...but is it really necessary to be able to view pictures on it? That seems kinda pointless to me.

Don't have much experience with Pioneer recently, my first surround sound system was a Pioneer HTIB though...wasn't top of the line by any means, but I loved it. Kinda regret selling it in hindsight...could use it in my bedroom now.

Their Elite series get's pretty high praise from a lot of people though.

You have got to be kidding the urushi finish on the elite line is awesome and in no way looks like plastic. I'm on my second elite and would only let it go for a solid pre/pro receiver or another flagship elite.

I have Installed a few of them. They are a very Impressive receiver that can rival separates in sound quality, speaker control and dynamic range. Not to mention it shames just about every preamp made under 7k. This is a pricey receiver but you get a lot for your money.
This is one bad mofo. It's also mantis approved.

ah- mantis. You were the one that was talking about this that caused me to look it up. Mantis approved means worth taking a look at. Unfortunately that doesn't put an extra 7k in my pocket.:(

A little ballsy of a statement lol. For a receiver its fantastic, but its not going to put every processor under 7 g's to shame. For those that want to keep it affordable look into the SC-05 and SC-07.

I'd be seen owning that. The question is, how do you properly display it for maximum show-off-ery?

Hmmm... it is impressive in size allright but unless you are cramped for space I believe you could do far better with seperates. I understand purchasing a receiver if you plan on spending 2k or less but to spend 7k is downright foolish. In a few years this will be a 1500.00 receiver and in ten years it will be a 500.00 receiver. If you spent 7k on quality used seperates you are going to achieve better sound and there is a good chance that you will get most of your money back in ten years. Plus the fact if anything goes wrong with it your done until fixed, with seperates simply replace the one faulty component unit until repaired.

$7K for this seems like a steal, especially considering you don't need an expensive Plasma or projector since it's already got a sweet LCD screen on the front. That'll save you $2k-$5K right there. . .

Remember, that $7k price is MSRP. I've seen this AVR go for around 4-4.5k through an authorized dealer.

I was able to pick up an 07 model with a $2200 MSRP, for $1500 through an authorized dealer.
