I wanted to get a pair of tube friendly floorstanders for my rig and i wanted to limit my driver diameter to smaller 5 1/4" midrange and bass units to get optimum performance from my EL34 based David Manley designed VTL MB-100 tube monoblocks.I also use a VTL TL 2.5 preamp that i bought from my friend Halo and it fits perfectly with my Monos in my current system.I bought these speakers on Audiogon from a gentleman in NYC.the Spark IV's have a curvelinear shaped cabinet mounted on aluminum outriggers and the cabinets are slanted rearward at 7 degrees and are 38" tall and 7" at thier widest point and 5 3/4" wide at the front baffle. and 8 3/4" deep. according to the literature i have read the drivers are designed by Audio Physic and built by Seas. the finish is cherry. I am so amazed at how good these speakers sound in my 2ch rig that i just want to keep listening to music instead of constantly fussing over the gear.Life is Good  thanks....WCW III

Very nice.
I've heard Audio Physic speakers in a high end audio shop and they were the most impressive speakers in there.

Outstanding find! I know all about trying to work with smaller tube wattage.
I'm glad to see you back ontrack after the fire.

thanks,The rig is really sounding sweet. The MB-100's make 100 wpc in tetrode mode and 50wpc in triode mode so power in not really a issue but using multiple smaller diameter drivers means i can push it as hard as i want without running out of steam ;) I am running cryoed Black Sable SED EL34's now but my next move is probably a couple of quads of Genelex Gold Lion KT77 Reissues .Again Thanks....WCW III

Life is good when the music grooves. Glad you've found the groove.

Congratulations on that set up. VTL amps are truly sweet sounding -- less tubey-sounding than their Manley cousins, with better dynamics. Audio Physics are also really great speakers, although I tend to favor more forward-sounding speakers like the Devore's.

Just got the AP Scorpio II and I concur with WCW...These are keepers
Wide Soundstage, refined details, speed is spot on, dead center vocals.
Sounds just travel around you like nothing Ive heard. Highly recommended!

It also helps tremendously to have a Bada CDP as your source.:p
