I received my new HT speakers earlier this week. RTi A7, CSi A6, FXi A6 and a DSW Pro 600 sub. All is powered with an Onkyo 876. It is set up in a fairly large room 750 square feet.
It's 5.1 system now but due to the large room I feel I need to add the other two speakers for a 7.1 set up.

Here's the problem...........Wife hates the way the FXi A6's (white) looked compared to the beautiful cherry wood on all the other speakers. I'm thinking about sending the 2 FXi A6's back and get 4 RTi A3's. This would make her happy (cherry wood) and give me the 7.1 system I would like.

I'm interested in your thoughts on swapping out the FXi A6's for the RTi A3's?
What would this do to the overall listing experience? Etc......
Another option is to move the Surrounds to the middle and order a set of RTi A3's for the rear, but I will have to listen to her about the ugly white speakers in the middle.

We watch more movies that listen to music, about 60/40.

Thanks!

Someone has to have an opinion on the RTi A3's as surround speakers compared to the FXi A6's...???????

Your opinions are needed...............

I think it would be fine if you switched to the RTi A3s. The sound from the surround speakers is very minimal compared to the sound from the front stage and so as long as you have the system properly set up and calibrated you should be just fine.

Bottom line...sound from A3s + happy wife much better than sound from FXi A6s and unhappy wife. Make the change and enjoy. Trust me on this one. :)

I have the FXi A6 for surrounds but I have then set in-phase and with the mid drivers facing in to my listening position and mounted on the back wall. I have to do this because I listen to SACD music but can't have stand mounted speakers. I'd have to say that the 3's would probably do just fine for surrounds. In fact, you may not know the difference if movies are your interest. Do the 3's come in cherry?

They do come in cherry. Thanks for the input! I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

The RTi A series is a great choice!
Guys here turned me onto em and I couldn't be happier.
All the user reviews around the web are 98% positive on these as well.
RTi A series = can't go wrong IMHO
