When I first got my Sony BDP-S350 I tried hooking it up to my TV. It's an old Phillips projection that goes 1080i. I expected to hook the BDP up via component cables (since my TV doesnt have HDMI). For some reason It will just not work, no matter what I try I get all kinds of weird lines and crazy picture when I power it up (on high def, 480i works fine). Keep in mind my 360 works perfectly fine on 1080i with component, I've never had a problem with that. I plugged my BDP into another TV to make sure it's not busted, and of course it works fine on 1080i and 1080p on my Aquos. I've tried everything, screwed with every setting, plugged every cable into every input, I even tried an HDMI-DVI adapter....no dice. Anybody have any ideas?

And for all those thinking "Why wouldn't that idiot just hook it up to his Aquos via HDMI?"-Already got a PS3 there.

The TV's 1080i...is the Blu-ray player set to output 1080p? My DVD player acts pretty similar to that when I try to output 480p to a 480i TV. I'm no expert on the subject...just an idea though.

Good call, I was going to suggest this. Try using Composite video and set the player up to 480p. Then try 1080i. Or even 720p if your tv can except the signal.
You have a resolution problem. You also can make the changes on the Sharp tv then take it back to the Philips.

My advise also is to consider getting rid of that DVI tv.

Why don't you just get an external HDMI switcher and hook it up to your Aquos?

If you haven't tried this.... go to your menu and select the display / video and scroll across. A secondary menu will come up that allows you to choose your defaults. Your unit is probably defaulted to 1080p which will not downconvert. You have to reset to 1080i or less. good luck.

Believe me I've tried all of this, I went in my setting and set everything to "Composite Video Ouput-1080i." The Blu-Ray player was defaulted to 480i and you set it up from there. And the DVI input is there I've never actually used it for anything except crazy stuff to hook this up. Also, I'd love to hook it up to the Aquos but 1) The PS3 is already a better Blu-Ray Player and two my Home Theatre room and system is all hooked up to the other TV.
