I have just purchased a set of Polk Lsi 9's. I have one receiver a relatively new Yamaha RX-797 and a vintage Sansui AU-X901. The Yamaha is rated at 100 watts while the Sansui is 130 watts. Both can handled 8 and 4 ohm speakers. I bought the Sansui in 1983 and have always loved the way it handled my old SDA floor speakers. Any opinion on which set would give me the most optimal performance on these new Lsi 9's? Will be using Audioquest type 4 cables with gold banana connectors. Thanks for the comments.

If it were me I would use the Sansui to power the LSi9's and use the Yamaha for a paper weight. YMMV.

I would say Sansui also.

But I also don't know why you wouldn't try both, since you have both... You never know unless you try....

I don't know why dkg made the negative comment about the Yamaha. It's actually a very good 2 channel system. I will give both a try and see which one I like better. Thanks for the inputs.

Because that is Doug's opinion and you asked for opinions.

Be careful with the Yamaha. I used a 90 watt reciever to drive a pair of Klipsh 8 ohm bookshelf speakers and it would start clipping at about half volumn. Fried two sets of tweeters before I gave up on it. Unless they have made vast changes in their recievers, I doubt it will like the 4 ohm load regardless of what they rate it for.

Bob, You probably should try both, keep in mind though, the senior members on here know their stuff, ive improved my system by trial and error and a lot of input from these guys.:D

So Bob, why is the Yammer a good 2-Ch. system?

Now you should know I dont think it would make that good of a paperweight, however, as an anchor for a small boat it may be useful, at least that is my 02. Well actually its a nickel, but only a nickel on a dime of the entire story.

I am thinking the Sansui, but maybe you can change my mind.

I would try both but I think the Sansui will win.
