Pogo's banana cannon?

would somebody recommend a good cheap set of banana plugs? I see all sorts of guages, angles, contacts, and connects....I can solder, but I thought that the point of these was to KISS?
is 12awg, gold, twist ok?

or should I just solder my own spades?
or do naked time?
