I have 2 R50's and CSi25 on the way. I got all three for under $200. Would FXi3's or even FXi5's match up to the front speakers?

Personally, I would save some money and get some R15 or R150's (and put that money towards a nice sub if you don't have one).

The R series has a pretty subdued high end IMO, which would not be an ideal match to the FXi's.

What about getting a set of RT8i's to put up front and move the R50's to the back as surrounds. I already have a Velodyne CT120.

R50's as backs are great, I feel they match up good with my 10's. Sometime I have to walk over to them to see if I can hear a difference.

Thanks. I can get a heck of a deal on a pair of RTi8's with a CSi5 here locally from a guy who is selling off his HT. So it sounds like with adding these to the R50's and the CSi25 everything will matchup nicely. If anyone else has any other advice, please post.

If you're thinking about the RTi8's as fronts, I would go ahead and get the CSi5 center too.

Matching the front 3 speakers should be a priority.

Ideally, you would also have surround speakers from the same series as your front 3. This would be the FXi3/5 in the case of RTi8 and CSi5 in the front.

If you're building a system from the ground up, I just don't see why you would not try to keep all speakers in the same series, whether that be all RTi, all Monitor, all R Series, etc.

I'd spring for the RTi8's and the CSi5 for sale locally myself. Those are great speakers, and you wouldn't want to use the RTi8's with the CSi25 if you can help it. Those aren't voice matched speakers, where as the RTi8/CSi5 combo would be.

The R50's would probably do just fine as surrounds matched up with the RTi fronts. You may eventually want to upgrade to some other RTi series speakers for your surrounds though as well. Maybe even eventually upgrade to some of the larger RTi series towers and move the RTi8's in back for surround duty.

Well, I went to look at the RTi8's and CSi5 today. The guy found out they were RTi12's and not RTi8's.The price was not affordable. So, it boils down to this. I bought the CSi5 from the guy today. When I got home I found a good deal on some new FXi3's so I ordered them. The R50's and CSi25 that I bought a couple of weeks ago will be here Monday. My question now is this. Should I resell the R50's and CSi25 and try to find a better set of matching fronts?

That's the way I'd go. Try to resell them, and get yourself some RTi fronts with the money you get back. You shouldn't have much trouble reselling them. Post em up in the for sale section here...they'll probably go fairly quick.

Good choice on the CSi5 though. I'd look into either the RTi8's, or one of the RTi series bookshelves if the 8's are out of your range.

edit-you can't post anything for sale here though until you have 25 posts, as per the forum rules. Just FYI.

I need to make sure they get here in one piece before I list them. They were shipped from coast to coast. That CSi5 is a monster. Thanks for the info on the "posts".
