View Full Version : Pathos Logos
I have not heard too much about this company from Italy, but they sure have some sweet looking products...anyone have experience? currently looking at this hybrid integrated, looks like a contender for the Bat integrated...

Here is another review

"What the Pathos does, and which is reminiscent of the TT (formerly the Twin Towers), is produce a satiny sheen, a smoothness of so little grain that one can only be reminded of those hoary old analogies likening the lack of texture or granulation to the effect of cleaning a lens. What's so pleasant about this trait being the domineering sonic fingerprint is that this of-a-whole consistency defies the mix of technologies which are valves and MOSFETs. I realise that it's not the same level of incongruity as one would find when, say, bi-amping with a tube amp above and solid-state below, but the lack of texture I'm trying to identify is something I associate almost exclusively with valves. Rare solid state exceptions include the Halcros and precious little else."
I think I will take the plunge on this one...More Favorable reviews:

The wood is a nice touch, but....the heat sinks spelling out the co. name reminds me of Gene Simmons!

This is a beautiful amp! :)
Keep us posted on your thoughts if/when you get one situated, burned-in and have done some critical listening.

Thanks!
I am going used with this one, most likely it is burned in. Hopefully we'll get some synergy going with my speakers and source.

We did a review of the Pathos Classic MkII in the Dec. 2008 issue. The standalone review is available in our archives section.

I did not mean to say it was not a good amp, simply that at almost 5k that there might be better ones out there. It is beautiful to look at, but looks don't drive speakers. If you are getting one from A-gon, and not paying retail, I would say give it a shot!:D
quote from review...
My caveats are what apply to every integrated amp—if you must have more power, or must have separates, this amp will not work for you. However, if you desire a strong amplifier with just a hint of tubes, go for it.
When I read those words, a caution flags goes up, as I don't want a forum member throwing coin out the window...
I wish you the best with your aquisition and let us know how it works out
Thanks John,
I dont think the reviewer was that enthusiastic about the amp for 5 grand, I agree...but I am expecting a big improvement from what I have now and couple that with the visual appeal of the amp I am willing to give it shot

Its always a good thing when a member decides to travel a path less beaten. Let us know how she sounds because she is sure pretty.
Integrated pieces have some strengths with less wire, short paths, and so on, of course as mentioned some areas of concern. As JanMike likes to say, its about the synergy of the entire system.

I agree and am glad I did. The Cary Audio solid state gear is great.
