View Full Version : [SOLD] Martin Logan Vantage towers
Up for grabs is a wonderful set of Martin Logan VANTAGE hybrid electrostat's, a model that has earned accolades from nearly every publication that's reviewed them as representing the best value in today's loudspeakers in the five-thousand dollar price class. I purchased my set from Tweeter in November of 08'. They have 4 years and 9 and a half months left of warranty left.
I'm selling because its time to move onto something different.
MSRP when new: $5500/pair
Average used price: $3000 - 3300
My asking price: $2800 *Club Polk deal*
Condition: 8/10. I found a very small mark on the back of one of the speakers. Otherwise, as far as my eyes can tell, they look fantastic.
The Catch: Because I have no longer have their boxes, these are local pick-up only. I'm located in 23608, VA. I am willing to deliver and/or meet someone halfway for a pick-up, so if you don't feel like auditioning them in my abode before buying, send me a PM and we'll work something out.

Wow man, nice score and I'm surprised your moving them already. I have herad these many times, they are fantastic when properly setup and powered correctly. More space between them and further away from the back and side walls makes magic happen.
I had a chance to pick up a pair that was new on the floor when Tweeter went down. I paused and then the where gone, I missed my window.
Man really nice I wish you well with your sale and kinda wish you would give them more time and a better setup. You might find some new things about them bro.
Dan
Hello Dan,
Well man – consider that window re-opened!
Yep, the Vantages are the real deal. You know, I think many people would be amazed at the sound I am getting in this tiny space. In all honesty, I feel they sound better in here than in the many larger, more “appropriate” rooms I’ve heard them in. Although there is zero doubt that an extra 5ft of back-wall clearance could do wonders, it’s pretty obvious to me what these speakers are all about – clearance or not. I’ve had my fun with them, so now it’s time to pass the buck to someone else.

Stink!
That is all.
If its odor you want, I could easily stuff a few fish in the cab's - free of charge even!
Come on Brent - take a road trip. :)

Summit X or CLX?
Seriously, what do you mean by your saying you know what these speakers are all about? Good, bad or indifferent? I know why I got rid of mine, I'm just curious.

Zero,
I smell a quest here. Getting out of Totem is already huge, those speakers you owned could be keepers for life. You already know how I feel about Totem.
Martin Logan same comments. I feel pretty much the same about Martin but they are more fussy in setup, a lot more. I used to get frustrated setting them up knowing how good they can sound and had a extremely hard time recreating that experience in peoples houses. But after a tweak here and there, I made magic.
I would love to talk about your future audio goals, I know you have something up your sleeve. Wedding bells only hold a man back for so long... then its on.

Hello Gordan,
I'm secretly (not so much now I guess) lusting for a set of Spire's. I genuinely have few complaints to register against the Vantage. It's the only speaker I've ever owned that I couldn't make sound bright in any way, yet all the while maintain exceptional resolution. It's a very fun speaker whose performance carries a reputation that I feel is well deserved. Right now I have them running on the McIntosh MA7000. What a sweet combo that is.. !
Dan,
You know, its funny, I found Totem speakers to be equally as difficult to work with as the Logan's, maybe if not more so. The difference is that Totem's will make decent sound even if you throw them into a closet whereas Logan's will need fairly precise placement from the get go. However, to extract top performance from a Totem, you need to be ultra familiar with individual model and know exactly what situations will suit that particular model best. In that regard, I'd say they are even more fussy than Martin Logan stuff.
As for me, part of the fun is in the journey. What's next? Guess I'll have to find out..
edit: Please note the above pictures are for the purpose of showing the product only. Anyone who comes here for an audition will find them set up more appropriately.

I still think Zero has some Wilson Watt Puppies in the garage awaiting a forklift to be placed in his listening space!
But in all seriousness, this is a killer deal.
Mark, Watt Puppies! Ya trying to kill meh!? Naw, I'm a humble dude... just a set of Sophia II's. :)

I'm still remembering Dave mathews on the N805's at Hi Fi house. That was a really good demo.
Dan
Bump zeee bump.
And yep, the N805's were/are decent lil' speaks.
