View Full Version : What speakers should i use? Polk Audio RM6750
02-04-2009, 09:24 PM
I have a 5.1 rm6750 system that I want to add 2 bookshelf speakers(or whatever) to compliment my system more for music without overpowering the sats. I plan to use the extra sat speakers for a 7.1 surround. My room is 12 x 16.
Does anyone have any suggestions on current or even discontinued speakers(there's still a lot of older models available online)
I appreciate your input.

I'd look into some RTi series speakers myself. Either the RTiA1 or the RTiA3 would probably fit the bill.
You could also look into the older versions of the same speakers, the RTi4 or the RTi6. They're essentially the same speaker, just with a different cabinet design, and slightly different cosmetics.
If you use your system for a lot of movie watching though, you might also want to look into upgrading your center channel. That would make your soundstage in front a lot more even. Either the CSiA4 or CSiA6 would work, and as with the bookshelves, you could look into the older versions to save a little coin, the CSi3 and CSi5.
Upgrading your center would be recommended though, even if a little later down the road. In across screen sweeps in movies, it's going to sound a little off balance going from an RTi to the RM center back to an RTi...it'd be a lot more balanced if it was all voice matched. Just a suggestion though, you've got to work within your budget of course.
By the way, welcome to Club Polk.

Thanks for the help. I finding it hard to find the older model speakers online, but they all have great ratings.
