I saw about a year ago jstas recomended these for this as a budget setup for a jeep wrangler:
Box:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_044T6510SS/Q-Logic-QLT-6510SS.html?tp=127
Sub:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB1040D/Polk-Audio-db1040DVC.html?tp=111
Amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_489AP1000/Profile-AP1000.html?tp=115
Would this still be the recomended setup for a jeep? Also, the box is discontinued - what would be the right replacement for that sub?
Thanks!

Thanks for the input. What would your suggestion be? Goal is a wrangler friendly single 10, box, and amp for around $300.00.

what do u mean wrangler friendly, like whimpie? if your stuck on a 10 crutchfield has momos on sale 2 for $100. you could sell 1 for $100(they retail for like $200) and have enough for kicker sx600.2. build your own box. it'll be worth it. you'd be saving over $550 not inluding what u got for selling 1. maybe kuthfield will hook u up w/ fee bx fo amp and sub puhase...sy keys seem messed up...

Well, I'm not looking to thump at stoplights if that's what you mean by "whimpie" :-) Mostly looking naturally extend the low end capbilites of the stock system. By "wrangler friendly" I mean small enough to fit behind the back seat. That's why I'm looking for a single 10 system.
Checking out the momo's and the amp...thanks for the suggestions :-)

I am in the process of upgrading the sound system in my '05 Jeep Wrangler Unilimited!
Are you committed to buying from Crutchfield and getting the Profile amplifier?
If not Sonics Electronix has the following items:
1. Polk Audio db1040dvc for $59.99
2. Power Acoustik LFA2-800 (150w x 2 @ 4 ohms/360w X 1 @ 2 ohms) for $99.99
3. Power Acoustik LFA2-1250 (220w x 2 @ 4 ohms/560w X 1 @ 2 ohms) for $109.99
I also got them to lower the amp's prices by $10 each because they price match. PM me for the details.

Depending on what year Wrangler you have the following sub enclosure might work for you. You do need some basic skills and the willingness to modifiy your rear seat but you end up with a stealth sub enclosure.

I have already being ripped off twice, so I am building my own custom hidden sub enclosure for two db840 subs under the rear seats. I am ditching the rear bench seat for two individual Corbeau seats in the process.
Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up going with:
Sub:
http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GTO1014&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA&cat=SUB&ser=GTS
Amp:
http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GT5-A3001&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA&cat=AMP&ser=GT
Box:
http://www.cartoys.com/Default.cfm/p/PP110_Single_10in_Subwoofer_Enclosure/
I can't imagine wanting any more bass in this thing :-) Box fix snugly between the back seat and the tailgate.
The amp is mounted under the seat and a cable+lock system prevents the back seat from being lifted. Another cable+lock runs through metal handles mounted on the sub box and connects to the cable holding the seat down. Of course it could still get jacked but you would have to be pretty determined. At some point you're just satisfying insurance requirements :-(

Great choices!
My first choice for subwoofers were the JBL GTO 840's but the Polk's db804 that I picked up will get the job done.
Too bad you can't shoot the bastard if you catch them in the act of stealing your property.
Pretty soon in the People's Socialist Republic of California we will have to offer the thief an extended warranty at no charge with our stolen goods!
