Computer Help Needed.

Hi Guys,
I have a few stubborn web address that have permanently attched themselves into my Address Bar at the top of the screen. These come up whenever the first letter is typed in. I am not sure if they are there from viruses, etc. since Polk and Audioadvisor are among them.

Can anyone tell me how to delete these permanantly? Thanks,

Are you using firefox?

I believe the only way to get rid of them is to clear your history. The browser makes suggestions based on your most visited sites.

I believe there's also a way to change the predictive options.... lemme know what browser you're using and I'll see if I can track that down.

EDIT : If you're using firefox, type "about:config" in the address bar, and do the following :

To prevent entries from History or bookmarked items from appearing but show those that you have specifically typed into the Location Bar (url bar), use about:config to toggle browser.urlbar.matchonlytyped to true. To completely disable the Location Bar autocomplete function in Firefox 3, modify the preference browser.urlbar.maxRichResults to 0 (zero).

If its IE click on Tools>internet options>(you shud be in General if yes)on Temporary IE files click on Delete cookiesclick on Delete Files
Then Click on Clear History, you will get a prompt whether you want to delete all the history, click Yes
then click ok button you are done.

Using IE. Clearing the history, cookies, temp files has never worked. I have this problem on 2 desktops using IE. My computer guy who is stumped.

Uninstall IE and re-install, make sure to down load it first.

now same routine instead of General Tab in internet options go to 4th one which is "Content" click on "Clear SSL State" Click on "Auto complete" then click on "Clear forms" then Click on "Clear Passwords"
then click OK and again come to general tab clear as stated in previous post,
(if need be you can uncheck the Box which has been ticked in Auto complete settings on the Web Address so that it will not happen again.
Please post immediately if you are able to do it or not.:D

No real downside that I've found yet, I've been using it for years now and can't remember the last time I had to fire up IE.

Good i was of little help, you need to keep doing this atleast once in a month or so, you can save some ram memory your comp may function little better, i am using both fire fox and ie both has its ups and down sides, MFF IMHO is better than IE. But some times for movie watching videos i use IE, MFF does not allow sometime websites to run. Its better to use both.
