I think I have narrowed it down to two receivers Yamaha RX-V663BL and the onkyo 606. Anyone have any thoughts?

Step up to a 706 at least so you get preamp outputs in case you'd like to add an external amp later.

Do you think the Yamaha would be a better choice? Do you possibly know if the Yamaha has preamp outputs.

Yes, the Yammy has pre-outs.
