RTi8 @ 90watts?

I'm thinking of upgrading to these but my Yammy only pushes 90watts per.
I'm guessing this just isn't quite enough to push a 20-250watt speaker?

Works fine with my A1's as mains but they are only 20-125watt.
(I have the Yammy crossover set at 80hz that is proper?)
I miss having some better mid range.
If my 90watt per isn't gonna cut the mustard I can't see wasting my time and $$$.

Your thoughts on this?

Get some good clean power to those and you'll see them sing. It definetely fills out the bottom end much better.

No it depends on how loud you will push your system, if you have a small room and don't listen very loud, then you can be fine. I had an rxv540 pushing mine for a while and no issues with blown tweets. I never drove them hard/loud. If you do buy the 8s, you will eventually want to buy a receiver with pre-outs to then add an external AMP.
And Yes 80 is a good spot for you.

The rti 8's are fairly easy to push. Your receiver will do fine but a external amp will help.

I had an rxv540 pushing mine for a while and no issues with blown tweets. I never drove them hard/loud. My Yammy works on a -80/+80db volume scale....most I ever crank it is at -25db....but that's with my RTi A1's (20-125watt rated).
Sound stage(Room) is a small 10x14.

I think that the RTI8s will give you alot bigger sound stage. I first started with Monitor 40s and when I bought the rti8s that is what sold me on them is the engulfing sound with movies. Movies were great! But the better amp, the better they will sound.
They always say build your system around your speakers. Not the other way around..

That Yammie is fine, especially if you're running just the two 8s. I find mid to lower end Yammies seem to generate more power in 2 channel than a comparable Onkyo for example, but not quite as much in surround modes.

As others have said the 8s are not that hard to push. Where as the higher Rti models need much more power.

While I'm on this, I'll commit a blunder here. Rti-8s are the entry tower for that series, The M70s are the highest Mseries model. Their raw numbers (specs) are pretty similar. The 8s have a different tweeter--which is a bit more forward and can handle a lot more power. But I think the M70s with enough power also produce a pretty good sound stage...maybe not equivalent to higher model 10s and 12s which are bigger, have better base drivers, handle great power, etc.

I've heard the Rti-8s and I own M70s. If I were to upgrade I'd got directly from 70s to 10s or 12s-.

I am forced to agree with Curt here. you will be fine with what you have for now. I have found reluctantly as others have that Polks tend to be a bit on the bright side with Yamaha gear, so I recommend a modest 2channel amp in the 150/200 wpc range at some point. Your speakers will go from sounding great to sounding fantastic!:cool:

I very rarely run in 2 Channel.
I run all 6 Channels 99% of the time.
Not sure if my Yammy has seperate amps for each channel.....doubt it.

Dunno if that changes everyones offered perspective?

The RTi8 are easy to drive and 90 watts shouldn't be difficult to power them with.

I think 90 wpc is adequate for the 8s. I was using an onkyo 705 with mine. debating getting a new front amp around -150 to 200 wpc now that i upgraded to the csi5.

I was only running three channels though, so I'm not sure if our situations are similar.

Unless you really feel that the 8s aren't measuring up to their full potential, I'd say you're fine. So much of audio is upgradeitis.
