U2 vinyl in 5.1 surround sound??

Ok. I picked up the new U2 album on vinyl.. 2 albums.. very heavy.. but on the back it says it's in 5.1 sound?

seriously? 5.1 surround sound on vinyl?

or do you think it's a misprint or that they just took the cover image off of say like a SACD and enlarged it for the album?

Hmmm, interesting AL. I don't know how you'd be able to get a 5.1 mix off vinyl since the only tables I'm aware of are 2 channel analogs. :confused:

ok it wasn't the new U2 album.. it was another album.. which I can't remember which one it was right now. I'll find out though.. i could swear it was in 5.1 surround. I should have bought it. ;)

I haven't heard of it implemented with vinyl, but there is a process that turns 2ch. into discrete 5.1, I downloaded a demo disk, and the quality is very good, much better than just Pro Logic. I believe it contains specific steering instructions to the AVR.
