Just bought off ebay because it was my first brand new audio purchase back in high school. I loved that amp but it got away from me, I was looking for years to replace it, found one that was built the same day I was born 8/10 (what are the odds?!?) I stupidly hooked it up to the Martin Logans keeping the volume low. Amazing MOSFET sound from this little 50watt amp! I had a cassette deck on top of it, checking frequently to feel if it was getting hot, it was getting quite warm (there was no other way to set the amp and a source with my custom speaker cables). It suddenly shuts down. Into protection I assume. I unplug it, there was no magic smoke, nothing smelled burnt, I let it cool down overnight. Next day I push the power button, the lights come on, the meters salute, the button doesn't stay engaged, the lights go back out, I opened her up, nothing looks amiss. I took some crappy pics. #3 and #5 show the power switch area, there is a small brown wire going from the bottom of the switch to the main board, it has 'mute' stamped on top of the board where the wire wraps around a post. I have little to no tech skills. I'd appreciate any and all input on areas to look for the trouble spot. The fuse is intact, it's hard to see in pic #1 under the bundle of wires.
Thanks in advance, SM's for this amp must be like hen's teeth.

Craig I bought and still have an A35. Somewhere in the basement in its origional box. I bought the schematic diagram when I bought the amp. I can scan and email it to you. Or send it by post. During the 28 years I've owned mine only the "on" switch and one channel power transister has failed. I had them both replaced by a pro. One of the best sounding amps for the money. Email me at mtwphl@yahoo.com
