I purchased 4 new MW6509 drivers from Polk for $48 each delivered in November of 2008 (the Polk sticker shows a production date of 11-26-2007), then found 4 original 1986 MW6509's for sale just a few miles away from my home in January.
The new drivers from Polk were improved with Dynamat Extreme, Mortited, and installed for about 500 hours of gentle use. The thin gasket formed by the Mortite has stayed perfectly intact through 2 installations and 3 removals (I heat the rim briefly with a hair dryer when installing, but just remove them "cold" with perfect results).
One problem with these replacement drivers was that the traditional notch in the rubber boot around each screw hole was not created by the factory on the replacement units. I've carefully replicated these notches with an Exacto-Knife.
I would like $42 each shipped in the US and I will absorb the PayPal fee. I'll take $155 shipped for all four and again, absorb the PayPal fee.
No need to mod yourself . . . Just heat and serve! :)
