Hi,

Appreciate if you anybody can suggest me how to use FXiA4 speakers.

My room is 13 ft. wide by 20 ft. length, with concrete walls. I would like to hang surround sides and surround rears to the wall.

I have already purchased the following:

Two RTiA5s
One CSiA3
Two FXiA4s
Two RTiA4s
One PSW10
Receiver: Sony STR-DG820

Should I use FXiA4s as surround sides or surround rears? I haven't hooked them up yet. I have read some posts saying direct firing speakers would be good as surround rears and bi-directional speakers would be good as surround sides as you get the sound enveloped from sides . Is this true?

Thanks for reading. Appreciate any suggestions.

Welcome to the Forum. I agree with what you read. Yes, use the FXiA4's for side surrounds and set them to dipole. Use your RTiA4's for rear surrounds.
You have a very nice 7 speaker setup, however I would recommend upgrading your subwoofer to at least a PSW505 to better match the rest of your RTiA system.

The PSW10 is more of an entry level sub typically paired with the Monitor series speakers . Did you get it thrown in with your package? Don't get me wrong, I own 4 PSW10's myself on a bedroom system with Monitor 60's & 50's.

I own the FXI a4 for side surrounds and I think you will love them. Set in Dipole they throw a nice sound field and you cannot hear the location of the speaker. For rear, Direct firing are ok as long as you dont sit too close. My seat is quite close to the rear wall and I use Fxi A6 (single) set on Bipole.

Hi xcapri79 and Danimal60,

Thank you so much for the reply. I will take your suggestion and place FXiA4s as surround sides.

xcapri79 - I didn't get the sub in a package deal. I bought all of them individually. Personally, I don't like too much of base. That is the reason I bought a 100 watt subwoofer :-) If it doesn't sound right after hooking them up, now I know what should be replaced.

Thanks for your suggestions.
