I have the bass. I have the mids, and the highs, but I don't have the serious punch in the chest like I had with the big boys. Jerry's speakers are just sick compared to mine in the hit you like sound. Robert plant ship of fools is just awesome on his speakers. The punch of the drums is incredible. I want that back. I had it, but I need to figure something out that works in my environment. I predict more MDF dust.

Yep, if you want horsepower there's no substitute for cubic inches!

Ben,, given your home/listening area,,I think that the following is right up your alley.

Single driver speakers, (1 pair) SET amp, pre of you choice/build, and a sub.with your skills, you could build it all.It is my understanding that the single driver speakers have no caps,it's mainly in the design and construction of the enclosure.Just a thought, might be fun.All for now,, off to the job.;)

Why don't you just build what Jerry has and add a sealed sub?

Hey Jake I am thinking along that line, but incorperating SDA into the design. The problem is ribbons don't play off axis as well as dome tweeters.
We shall see.

As for Jerry's speakers I want to out do him. Love the guy, but I want to have the best. We are working on some improvements. We are looking at 1.2 TL style, but they are so perfect sound stage wise I don't want to EF with them. George you need to get back to Jerry's house to check them out. Listen to ship of fools on them. The drums are real hard to reproduce, but Jerry's speakers do it in spades!!! In friggen spades. Unfreaken believable since he spread them out. It makes me wonder how many people are missing out on the proper SDA effect by not have the right gear, wires, source, amps to run it right. Also he added a Carver M1.5T on the tweeters which he reports kills the EMO he was running for highs. He also reports that it kills my Adcom's on the highs. There may be a fight. Blood may be shed, but if the imaging is better I may be hunting for a Carver on the highs. Tube buffer is what we are looking as an option for certain genre of music.

Well Jerry has a TFM15 for me to play with. I am going to try that on the highs. Also I am thinking 6 stereo drivers, and 6 dimensional drivers. I may be looking at getting some Carver 48" ribbons for the highs. Tom you prick. You cursed me. I said I was done, and now I am continuing on. The sickness you have is contagious. I don't know if it is curable, but I am banishing you from my household till the next time you come down. If I get any worse I am going to drive ice picks through my ears.

As Paul W. Klipsch said (more or less), "You can't miniaturize a 16 Hz sound wave".

Build yourself a couple of El-Pipe-O subwoofers and be done with it.

What drivers are you looking at using Ben? I remember what put you over the edge with your big'ins was the SQ of "vintage" drivers verses newer technology drivers.

I had the sonosub, and liked it, but it wasn't as musical as the sealed. I am not going to go huge, but I want more driver surface on the mids. It was fun to see the look on peoples faces when they saw the bigguns, but they just don't work in my home. I am going to probably sell them after a treatment of veneer. I will no longer have the worlds largest SDA's. Well till I move or rip out some walls;)

SilverFlutes again. I am going to go with the same drivers as Jerry has except I want to use 6 dims, and 6 stereos in a sealed chamber with the 15" woofers doing stereo bass. Never going back to mono subs for music.

Just to drive a pair of tweeters;) I don't go crazy with the volume much anymore. Once in a while I'll hit 116db. Well the subs I have not tested the SPL output.

The fronts have some similarities of both SDA, and SRT;) I do want to get my ears on the SRT subs. I have heard great things about them. Did you get your new set of SRT's?

Why, so you can buy another set. LOL
Too funny. I was thinking the same thing!
