I'm using PSW10 subwoofer now. I plan to add to two VM10 as surround speakers. I'm just wondering if my PSW10 good enough for these VM10 speakers? or should I upgrade my subwoofer first before buying VM10?

Thanks

Welcome to CP rtslab. It appears polk recommends the DSW series subwoofers for the VM series.
You could try them with your PSW10 and see how it works out, but you'll get the best results timbre matching your speakers.

Good luck

rtslab, welcome to CP. My opinion differs from Keiko on this somewhat. Timbre matching is important true, but in order of importance the front stage, then the surrounds. The sub has no timbre matching importance. There is a lot of information here on choosing subs. The first thing you need to do is know how big of a room you are trying to fill. Decide if music or HT has any more importance than the other. Then look at what the VM10's capabilities are in that room. Then find a sub in your price range that can add to the VM's to reach your performance goal in your room.

Not knowing any of these things I don't think anyone can give you anything close to an answer. The VM10s are somewhat limited on the bottom so in a small room, without too demanding source material the PSW10 should be able to help add a little. But if you have major performance expectations of it I think you will be disappointed. My $.02.

Thanks for replies.

My room is about 20x10. The ceiling is 8 feet high. Here are my current settings:
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR606
Front: Polk Monitor 50
Rear: Polk M10
Subwoofer: POlk PSW10

I plan to add two surround speakers. So it seems adding two Monitor 30 will be better choice than VM10 considering my existing configuration.

BTW, my center is Polk CS20.

Admin, how can I edit my post? I can't find Edit button anywhere.

Thanks,

The Monitor 30 is a good choice for your surrounds with Monitor 50 fronts and a CS20 center.
I have a Polk Monitor setup using 2 PSW10's, one at each of the surrounds for bass enhancement, and a PSW505 up front. The price of these have come down to the point where it isn't outrageously expensive to have multiple subs in a room. The PSW505 in a nice matching subwoofer to the Monitor series.

One suggestion though, if you can find a pair of Monitor 70's at a good price, they make excellent fronts, You can use your Monitor 50's for the side surrounds and Monitor 30's for rear surrounds. With a good receiver or an external amp the Monitor 70's are very nice for 2 channel listening or HT.
