I just scored a pair of Lsi25's from Polk diirect. Feel like little kid on Christmase eve! Now I'm wondering whether my Velodyne SPL1200R will get any use? I am about 80/20 for music/movies. Does it make sense to use a sub with Lsi25's, or is it too much work trying to blend it with the 25s? Assuming I keep the sub, what would be a good crossover for the Velo? Just curious how much bass others desire.

IMO, depends on the size of your room and how well it deals with bass. Same thing with the XO.
Anyhow, you're the one with the speakers and the room. Why are you asking us? Experiment the different settings and speaker setup yourself and tell us what you think.

You could give that response to pretty much any question. If the question is a waste of your time, and your time is so valuable, why bother responding at all? For the record, I don't have the speakers, so I cannot yet answer the question myself. This forum is for people who enjoy discussing audio. If you don't want to discuss then don't say anything at all.

Um... my post was to prompt you to say what kind of room you have and how you think it affects your sound so that we can help you better. No need to get prickly.
Also, I don't know how much better of a response you will get because it really is situational. My SDA 2A played really really well in the room with the TV, but when I placed them in our bigger room, it wasn't so hot in the bass department.

For home theater I would still cross it over at 80 hz. (due to most pre/pro's having a limitation with LFE)
For music I would run in pure direct mode (to bypass the digital side of your pre/pro) or no sub. If you decide you are missing bass, I would cross it over low like 40-50hz. The best crossover will depend on your room, its interaction with the bass of the 25's and how loud and low of bass you typically want to listen to.

I pair my LSi25's with matching PSW1000's. I normally set my LSi25 crossovers to close to the 12 oclock factory setting near 100 (the markings only show 60 and 130) and adjust the volume usually no more than half way. With the PSW1000's I set it above the 60 marking to approximately 80. The PSW1000 is convenient with front controls. As McLoki says , much of the setting will be based on your room and your ear.

Sorry. Your first response sounded like a teacher telling a student to answer his question for homework. I am just trying to get a feel for what others are doing. When the speakers arrive there will be more variables (crossovers, separate sub volumes, etc...) to tweak and it would be nice to start somewhere reasonable. No hard feelings, though.

McLoki/Xcapi79,
Thanks. I'm mostly just wondering whether there will be a place in my rig for a sub. I guess it will always be good for movies. Maybe I don't have one too many subs, just one two few! The cycle never ends. LOL
However, I do have a more specific question. When I run my the Auto Calibration with my Onk 875, how should I start? Presumably, running it with different volumes and crossover on the 25 subwoofers will give different results.
