Ok, I need some more advise. I have finally gotten my vintage gear fixed. Harmon Kardon Citation 16 amp, with a Phase Linear 4000 pre-amp. I have also upgraded the CD player to a Cambridge Audio Azur 640C version 2. With slightly upgraded cables. A while ago I bought some Monitor 50's (my first major upgrade since graduated college). These amazing speakers continue to blow me away with their performance. I used to think they needed a sub, but they don't most of the time, if the power is there. The problem is these speakers are meant to be my front in a future home theatre (along with other monitors). Also, when I start to crank up certain music, the speakers start to fail a little in clarity and overal performance. So I need new speakers.

So with this set up, what speakers would you choose? I am planning on finding a second Citation 16 amp to bi-amp speakers. The room size is unknown for I will be moving in a year. I am expecting to spend 2-3 grand. My music tastes are extreamly far ranging from the Beatles, to Sinatra, to Mudvayne. If you know the band (and you should) Minus the Bear they are a great middle ground in my musical tastes.

I am thinking of going with Rti A9.

So again what speakers would you choose?

SDA, LSi15, and some sort of SVS or HSU or some other good subwoofer.

Your musical taste runs like mine do! For the softer stuff I am running a set of Carver amazing and for the harder stuff Polk SDA. If i want to rock out, I put on all 4 SDA 's ( 1.2 and 2.3) and I take the cable off the 2.3, keep the cable on the outer 1.2 and it Shakes the house!

a Citation 16? You need either a pair of JBL L65's or a pair of
AR-9's! If you're gonna go vintage, go all the way!

I was thinking of going vintage, because of the rest of the gear. But my father was the original owner, and I knew what I was getting into when I was getting the gear referbished. But I am hesitant about getting vintage speakers from other people. especially if i dont get to hear them. How do you really know what condition they are in. And could it be better just to go new?

I have been intersted in SDAs for a while, I have no idea how they sound, or really where to get the and to listen to.

eBay, Audiogon, Craigslist

Just buy one... generally speaking, you won't regret it... Lol.

enthusiastically go for the sda! I would recommend the SDA-1c's for the gear you are running as I think they will sound sweet with your rig, but that is just my opinion... They are reasonably priced given their performance and seem to come available pretty often.

If people would list where they are from they would get more offers from local Polkies to demo some gear for them;)
