I just read your PM stating that you didn't really need these, but here they are anyhow (since I had already taken them). The only thing I notice is that there are two faint lines near the center "pimple". They've always been there and are hardly noticeable, in fact it was difficult (with my limited photography skills) to get them to show on the photo. If you don't like them, I'll change the membrane with an identical one from a different speaker.

$30 plus whatever actual shipping turns out to be, if you think that is reasonable.

The photos were a pain and took several attempts, I had to use the "macro" setting to get the close up detail in focus. I'm glad this tweeter is going to a great new home where it will be appreciated in one of those awesome CS400 centers!

Just in case there are any other spare part requirements lurking out there, I also have a brand new, never used replacement grille that I bought for my CS400, but since I don't have the CS400 any more, I'll be putting it up in the F.S. section later.

I had to use epoxy to fix a cracked corner of the grill. Then, I recovered the cloth - that was easy and econimical - 3M heavy duty spray adhesive and some Parts Express black cloth that I had extra of.

I already upgraded the x-over so once I get the tweeter, I will slap it all together. I can do that now that Polk CS is sending me some of those funky hex-head screws - they are first-rate.

I just shipped this today, Priority Mail, so you should have it by Monday or Tuesday by my estimation, CA 2 TX. I'll send you the details privately.

It really is a PITA to pack a tweeter properly. I tried three times since Wednesday before I was happy that it had a good chance of arriving undamaged. The problem is the soft dome, which protrudes out further than any of the rigid parts, and the fact that the magnet and other parts actually weigh enough to cause shifting, so I just jammed it into the corner of a box with some bubble wrap tightly holding it away from the top edge.

I don't think it cost me more than $10-15 extra to get the new replacement SL6511 from Polk, even after tax and shipping was applied, but I think they actually gave me a huge discount on the MSRP. Great c/s as always.

Are the tweeters not available from Polk any more?
I ordered one for my RT1000p (same tweeter) just a couple of years ago.

It is hard to pack that tweeter, if you don't have the original box. With the original box - it's a piece of cake ;).

It is hard to pack that tweeter, if you don't have the original box. With the original box - it's a piece of cake ;).Polk supplied me with a SL6511, not a SL6502, when I ordered my replacement. I think it may have been a silk dome, not tri-laminate, purplish-grey in color (not silver), and the grain in the plastic surround finish was different too.

To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference (admittedly, it's hard to compare tweeters precisely!), so the SL6511 ended up being sold with the CS400, and Dave gets the original SL6502 above.

As for the box: it didn't have an original box to use. It was packed in bubble wrap inside a very large box of peanuts that also contained the spare grille I ordered at the same time, so I had to improvise as best I could.

... Unique, but very effective packaging. ...He he he! You make it sound like it was wrapped in a Borat type monokini or something! I'm glad it worked ... I just didn't want the sliver tri-laminate coating, if that's what it's called, to rub off in transit, which would have been very unsightly ya know!
