I am selling my BAT VK-3ix with six-pak and super-pak mods; and, my Emerald Physics CS2s are in their final weeks of use. I've pulled out the boxes and will be preparing them for shipping shortly. They've been traded-in.

It's upgrade time! Wooh Hooh!! Not that I prefer a recession, but man it really opens buyers up to previously unattainable levels in performance thanks to some price-cuts.

That is all.

I'm confused about the OP and the thread title. There has got to be some interesting logic between the two here.

You would have to be familiar with the OP for it to make sense.

SS, your next choice of speakers has me very curious.

It's af if there was some sort of pool to guess the day he'd trade in his speakers.... (and, no, I don't know the op, nor did I have that date...) ;)

Aye, but a year and a half ago - you couldn't pick up a set of Martin Logan Summits for under 5 grand (as a random example).

The ballgame certainly changes when you have access to components that were recently just a pipe dream! Anyways, as said before - enjoy the new toys. If you are going with the new Wilson Audio Watt Puppy/Sasha... I'll be over to help you unpack em'.

What's this a new Emmy speaker? What else could they be coming out with? Hmmmm?

http://www.emeraldphysics.com/page13/files/cs3_cherry.jpg

It seems to be a 12 inch woofer with a compression driver mounted in the center? Wow, it's like the woofer is the waveguide for the tweeter.

Imagine if they did this and added two fifteen inch woofers underneath for the low-end . . . now that would be a three-way I would buy.

:D That's a terrible thing to say about a fellow Polkie. And to steal from a man when he's passed out drunk, not cool. But I could do as you say but instead take some compromising pictures of him and threaten to post them here if he doesn't give me all his gear...;)

Here are my new speakers!!!!!

Emerald Physics CS2.3
http://www.emeraldphysics.com/page9/files/cs2.3_finalweb.jpg

The second generation CS2 is here! The new CS2.3 is another radical step forward and a worthy successor to the legendary CS2. With its new 12" point source professional driver system, the CS2.3 is now a true 3-way, bi-amplified, dipole speaker design. Cutting edge sonic performance establishes a new level of realism and dimensionality.

The innovation continues in the Bass range with our new Aperture Bass Propagation technology. This proprietary system is used for both 15" dipole woofers, improving low frequency power and linearity, while retaining all the speed and articulation of the original CS2. DSP equalization and active crossover functions are provided by the included Behringer DCX2496 Digital Processor. You can now upgrade to the optional DBX PX processor which provides automatic room correction and American made quality.

Available in real Mahogany, Cherry, Maple and Black wood finishes.

I will Definitely get a pair of big Danes down the road. I love those speakers and have been in awe of their sound. The reason I stick to the Emmys is that I can achieve that big massive high-end sound without the big price tag.

Something interesting, Clayton had a breakthrough designing the center-channel for his new surround sound system which led to the new technology behind the CS3 and CS2.3. Walter Liederman, indicated the CS2.3 sounds better than the CS1, and to expect a complete design overhaul of the CS1.

I had a feeling you would be going with some new Emmy's. I was unaware of the new models though. Figured it would be the CS1's.

Dear SS,

I am wondering if you ever received and tried the latest EP CS2.3?

How does it look and sound to you? Or has it not arrived yet?

Any comments would be appreciated.. esp. how it compares to the previous CS2..

if it is not too troublesome, pls email me at sithkk@gmail.com

THANKS!

please do give us a mini review of your new 2.3's solid. i joined this forum just so i could reply to this thread! it is damn near IMPOSSIBLE to get any word on the new EP's which i really don't understand. the original cs2's were one of the most talked about speakers ever, now PFFFTTT.... nothing. no reviews, no owners talking, nothing. it's really kinda strange, and not really great marketing IMO. BTW do you know why the DBX is no longer listed as an option on the website?

nikolas812
08-02-2009, 06:32 PM
Just a guess. But everybody's just now getting them from what I understand. And if there like the CS2's and have the same EXTENSIVE break in period. It might be bit before we start getting reviews from people. Just a guess though..

I'm sure SS will post his thoughts as soon as he gets some time with them though...

Welcome to the Forum.

Hey,

I've talked to Walter Liederman and Clayton Shaw regarding my CS 2.3s. Evidently Clayton is two weeks behind on production in light of an unexpected demand for these speakers. I should be receiving mine shortly.

That being said, I won't really be giving any review of these speakers until I give my entire system some break in time. I'm thinking at least 500 hours.

Welcome to CP.

It's funny whenever you search Emerald Physics, the Polk threads are some of the first to appear on Google. They look like cool speakers, but sadly out of my price range.

Quit starting conspiracy theories! You buying some Emmys after you sell your SDAs?

My speakers arrive the 20th. Photos will be posted once I get my system back together and presentable. Shipping was delayed on account that Emerald Physics accidentally shipped my Cullen Ciruits modded Berhringer DCX2496 to the buyer of my traded-in speakers. So whoever that was really acquired a nice windfall. Clayton offered to buy me another DCX with the Cullen mods, but then he offered the alternative of a new DBX processor that auto-EQs the bass with a mic. At first I was reluctant since I was aware Emerald Physics has some trouble with their previous implementation of the DBX processor. Evidently those bugs are not an issue with the higher level processor they are currently using from DBX. At any rate, the new DBX is a $1,200 unit, the same price as a modded DCX more or less. Clayton says the stock DBX will offer the same perofrmance as the modded DCX but with the benefit of a mic to auto calibrate the bass to the room. I'm excited.

I'm leaning towards a pair of Magnepan 1.6's
