Does anyone know if the Hafler DH-500 has a common ground? I am getting some SDA-2B speakers that require a common ground amp. I understand if I do a continuity check on the negative output terminals and there is continuity, it should be ok but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. I did put the question to Hafler but haven't got a response yet.

Gday,
I've strapped the negative terminals on my hafler dh-500 with my 1.2 TLs and have had no issues :D

No.And that DH-500 amp is one nice amp.Musical concepts/musical design can repair and mod them though.

The DH-500 is a beast of an amp. Weighs over 50 lbs and rated at 255 watts/channel into 8 ohms. I had it checked out by a tech who is Hafler knowledgable (and who owns a Hafler) and it met or exceeded all the original specs.
Other members have suggested this amp does not put out enough "clean" power for my Polk RTA-12B speakers and that is why the 0.75 amp tweeter fuse blows when I play at high volumes for extended periods of time but I can't imagine this amp is lacking in clean power.

Do you think the clean power has been blowing the fuses or tweeters?
Maybe it's not the amp. Could it be the source sending ugly signals thus blowing the fuses? I do know its generally the clipping of the power supply that blows fuses and or tweeters.

I heard of a gay electrician who was caught blowing fuses.

I am thinking it could be too much power at the high volume levels. The RTA-12B are nominal 4 ohm impedence and dip below at some frequencies so the Hafler could be delivering more than the 500 watt rating for the speakers when I'm driving them hard.
Do you know what the 4 ohm rating for that amp is because 500 Watts does sound possible!

The spec sheet for the Hafler has a a power/ch vs impedence curve that indicates that at 4 ohms each channel produces a little over 500 watts.

250 wpc, 500 wpc....it doesn't matter. Clipping is clipping.
