My parents want me to help them put a HT in their new house. They want a 50-53" RP HDTV widescreen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks- Greg

It's a $5k unit, with street price of $4k. With the budget that they have, I would go with Mitsubishi 50" Rear-Projection HDTV Monitor, VS-A50.

the mits 55 unit is around 2k

WS-55311

they make great units for the price. and if you want you can drop about 400 for a isf calabraton and it wil make it liik even beter.

if Pioneer Elite is out of the price point then Mitsubishi is the way to go.You can't find a better set at there price point. They rule the market there.
vote for Mitsubishi

I also vote for Mitsubishi. I own the 46 inch 46809 HDTV and couldn't be happier. No problems so far (owned over a year).

The Mitsubishi's have a narrower "sweet spot" for viewing than some of the other models; but once you're there you will be impressed.

You should be able to find a Mits under $2k if you shop around.

I was also impressed with the picture on the Panasonic models but ultimately chose Mitsubishi based on the value, reputation, and awesome picture.

I've been happy with my 51" Hitachi. Got it about a month and a half ago.
