Phono Pre-Amp

Anyone has one? preferably mid-grade tube-based. This is the first step in reviving my SL-1200 (very very slowly) as perhaps I will need to start here before I can move on to the next step (possibly a Denon cartridge as Keiko has suggested).

I have a friend who has one of these:

and likes it very much. I think DKG999 may also have one. Perhaps he could chime in.

Wasn't there a Jolida tubed pre FS in the FM? Last I checked it wasn't sold. Look about 5 or more pages back and you'll find it.

Thanks for the input, guys. I saw the Jolida, thanks for the note, Tom. I am not sure if I want to assemble from kit, I used to do that back in the day, and found myself troubleshooting/fixing quality issues more than I need to. But thanks for the info, though.

Frances, check out this ONE (http://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/cia_vpp1_e.html). These sell for $299 new, but can be snagged for less. My buddy is using one of these with a Technics SL-1200 with a MM cartridge with excellent results. Nice little phono pre!!!
