Anyone have the new Stones reissues out this month?
The post 1971 albums are being reissued and so far Sticky Fingers, Goats Head Soup, Black and Blue, and It's Only Rock and Roll are out.
Would like to know if sound quality has improved since the 1994 issues.
Couldn't find anything categorically stating they were newly remastered.
DForeman,
Or any Stones fan. Does anyone know WHAT SONG....the lyrics 'we all need someone we can lean on..." come from? I've been trying to figure out what the song is and what album it's on for months?
Thanks

Let it Bleed
Well we all need someone to lean on
And if you want it, well you can lean on me
Well, we all need someone we can lean on
And if you want it, well you can lean on me
I have most of the Stones original LPs, including Sticky Fingers with the Warhol cover.
Thanks man...
I tried listening to Amazon clips, I think I listened to that album as well, but at 30 seconds you don't get to what you might remember.....A must buy!

Just popped over to my local over-priced record store. These new Stones reissues don't appear to be any different than the 1994 ones. I stress didn't "appear" different (couldn't open one up of course). There was a sticker on the front stating "remaster" but the back of the CD looked identical to the old ones.

The 2002 DSD remaster of Let It Bleed sounds great! The redbook layer as well.

I picked up sticky fingers on Tues. From the reviews I read on amazon it was remastered and improved, but I don't have the '94 to compare. I think it kicks ass, as do Let it Bleed and Beggars in DSD.
I'm rockin out to dead flowers and some killer guitar licks at this very moment

Around 1967, Sears had a sale on Stones albums. For one Saturday only, every Stones album in stock was 69 cents, no returns, all sales final. I hurried my little ass up to Sears on Saturday morning, and came home with the first ten or twelve, from Englands Newest Hitmakers, to Flowers or Aftermath. On the way home I got to looking at them. Every one was mono. I was pretty bummed out because I was basically a "stereo" type of guy by that time. I never played any of them. I kept them for my whole life (almost), and didn't trade them in to the Princeton Record Exchange until around the mid to late 80's, after I had bought them all on cd. I made a few bucks when I traded them in. Do you have any idea what those babies are worth NOW? Almost brings a tear to my eye.

Ouch.
My lost opportunity vinyl story:
Was living in a condo in the 90's and had a storage locker in the basement of the building. I had 3 or 4 milk cartons of albums I just couldn't bring myself to throw out (even though I never played them) so stored them there. I went down there one day some years later to get something only to find the whole locker had been flooded. I lost all my albums.
Not sure if I would have kept them all these years but they would have been worth a bundle if I had.

If all of the LPs in my collection are worth 3 bucks each, I am well into the 5 figure range. I'll never have time to listen to all of them.

Double G,, reading your post got me motivated, so I dug around the closet and came up with these,, got a few more, but wanted to post these,, they are some of the "British" imports that I kept after we closed our record shop in the seventies,, found a couple of Floyd LP's and Are You Exp in mono,,here you go,these are sealed, never played.

This review does not speak highly of the remasters:

That's gold George, pure gold. Mono, sealed Experienced? Gold.
Is that the 3-d cover you posted, or the flat image TSMR? That's a find too.

F1nut,
Yeah, I know what you are saying. What I love about this hobby though is how it drives you crazy wondering "if it can sound better" -- be it a new component, a new cable, or even a new remaster.
I am going to buy the Stones remasters sound unheard. I will always wonder otherwise. I hope they are not simply "louder", that would be disappointing.

DForeman,
I can tell you for certain that the Stones SACD's are not victims of the loudness wars. I only wish they would have released Sticky Fingers on SACD as it's my favorite Stones album. I have SF on a Japanese issued CD and it's much better than the US issued versions. Let me know what you think about the redbook remasters.

Good to know Jesse. I'm planning on picking up some of the Stones SACD's before to much longer.
Do you know if they have a box set with all of their SACD's? I haven't been able to find one.
