Apparently the front end on this amp was designed by Gary Dodd of Dodd Audio. The builder is Charles Cicci and I have his phone number. I can do 625 shipped on this with a matched quad of RCA bronze plate 5687, and a matched quad of brand new Genalex (re-issue) EL84. I use an Amplitrex AT1000 to test my tubes. I simply don't have room for this thing in my new space.

Here's what I have from the previous owner, a friend of Charles (a really nice down to earth guy).

"Teflon-insulated wiring, good RCAs, instrument-grade biding posts. PRP non-inductive resistors and a variety of good caps. TKD volume control. Hefty input selector switch.

Retrofitted McIntosh chassis. The tube cage is included.

Awesome input stage, with 5687 tubes. (7044s will also work.). And those are Bugle Boy 6BQ5’s in the output stage. .

Output power is typical for an EL84/6BQ5 push-pull amp, probably a substantial 15wpc.

This amp has a regulated power supply—which is pretty unusual for a power amp stage. It’s built on the heat sink that’s visible on top of the chassis. The power transformer is somewhat oversized, so it has no trouble handling the extra current draw through the regulator.

As for the sound, first of all, it’s the quietest tube amp I’ve ever heard—probably because of the regulated power supply. It isn’t quite as lush as you might expect from an EL84… It’s airier. Vocals have more air around them, and it nevertheless has a characteristic EL84 sound. It does sound a little warmer with the Bugle Boys than with the TAD EL84’s I have. The TADs are also a nice tube. I’ll include either set, buyers choice.

DIY lot:

Okay, 3 of 7 RCa plugs needed to be cleaned up but their usable (a 4 packs runs $20 at parts express).

There is Belden CC89259 which were originally made by Element cable as 11' pair:
(2) CC89259 runs of 3ft.
(1) CC89259 of about 3.5ft
(2) CC89259 runs of 5ft.

Homegrown 22awg solid silver that is twisted to make (1) pair of RCA's (unterminated) about 1ft

(1) pair of solid silver wires; 6 inches.

Audioquest spades, 20 silver. Will have to check size (8?)

Some copper wire, cloth covered, from Homegrown; enough to make a short pair of interconnects

(1) pair of Zaolla cable (was RCA interconnect), now determinated; good for a short iPod to amp cable.

The Double Shotgun of Clear Day is great stuff but as you can see I'm downsizing and without monoblocks I won't be able to use them; I'm planning on getting another longer pair down the road though. They are terminated with silver spades and they fit on my Cyber 211 monoblocks and Klipsch RF7s which are pretty standard terminals.
