Hi, I'm new to the advanced fidelity field. I just purchased a pair of LSi15s to pair with my Sony STR-DG920 receiver. My question relates to my understanding of impedance. Since my receiver is rated at 110W x 7 (8 ohms, THD 1.0%), and the speakers are rated at 4 ohm impendance, does that mean they will receive 220W? Should this be sufficient for these speakers? Thank you for any help. I am moving to my first home and would like to avoid purchasing a separate amplifier right now, but if they need more power to sound great, I will have to splurge.

Same question for some time.
You need to use an amplifier at 300 watts. It is the base for LSI sing.

Start splurging, but first make sure that your Sony has preouts to add separate amplification.

And to correct the info above, Try to get an amplifier that has 200wpc @ 8ohm which will probably put out about 300wpc @ 4ohm.

The more power you give the LSI's the better they will sound & the less risk of damaging them from being underpowered by an inadequate receiver.

I was powering my LSI 15's with a Yamaha 95wpc receiver, I just added an Emotiva XPA-5 amplifier with 200wpc @8ohm & 350wpc @4ohm.

The LSI's came ALIVE with the Emotiva. I didn't need my sub woofer any more and there was a significant widening of the soundstage, the vocals are more powerful with greater clarity.

I would say go for the power!!!! you won't be sorry.

Welcome to Club Polk Jimmy! And Thank You for the concise, accurate assessment of what lots of separate power can do for the LSI's!
