Sheared binding post on my SDA's

:mad: I've not had a fun night guys. My fan unbelievably fell from my window and completely sheared off one of my binding posts on my SRS' (not to mentioned the banana plug on my MIT cables). I assume that the binding post on the sda's are replaceable, correct? Being the total newb that I am, how exactly do I go about doing this? I'm heading to bed angry for now and will be back on the forum tomorrow morning.

If you simply want to replace the broken one with the same type, I think I've got some around here. PM me your addy info and tell me if it's the red or black one?

To replace it, unscrew the binding post plate, peel off the hotglue, undo the nut and pop it out.

I can't tell you how much I hate that fan! I have made a temp fix for now, with what's left of the banana plug being held in place against what is left of the post. At least I can still listen to them until I fix them. Jesse, I really appreciate the offer and will be shooting you a pm momentarily.

For future reference - I just had something similar with one of my surround speakers.
I was able to unscrew the plate where the binding posts are mounted; was able to get to the back and unscrew them; found something similar at Radio Shack - a plate with binding posts; took it apart to get the binding post I needed; I did have to solder the connector on one post, but the other was fine.

Coincidentally, I had a similar experience yesterday. I was having my A/C serviced and while pulling a ladder in position, it caught the speaker cable and broke the binding post off my RTA-12Cs, snapped right at the base of the terminal.

I have decided to replace all the binding posts with something better... Any ideas? I looked at Parts Express and their posts have 1.5" bolts, way too long.

And the bummer part... i now need to have my A/C replaced... a gecko (hawaiian lizard) shorted out the power supply board which took out some other boards and compressor as well... they changed all the boards and the compressor won't start...

Lol. I can't tell you how pissed I was when I saw the post. At least it didn't hurt anything else. It seems like the post is easy enough to fix (thanks to Jesse). They will be returned to mint shortly:D

I replaced them today with no problems. But, man is the hot glue a pain in the ass to peel. Other than that, it was a cinch. Thanks Jesse for the post and the help.
