That he is....I am wondering what kind of shape the SRS's are in. Might be worth the a long drive if they are in great shape.

The bigger question is what SRS's are they. The original's,1.2's,1.2tl's? a good picture could go a long way,He may not know what he has.

Leroy is there a reason why you did not go for them? I am looking to replace my SDA's (long story). Although I have owned the SDA 2's since 84 or 85 I did not realize how much has changed. So any advice would be appreciated.

I have heard this set. They sound great and are in very good shape. This guy has a vintage HIFI shop in Pittsburgh. I have bought a lot off of him in the last few years. Good guy to deal with. His web site is www.vintagehifishop.com

I was just at this guy's store 2 days ago and put my eyes on those speakers. First of all, that guy's got more stereo stuff packed into such a small place as I've ever seen. It really is a heck of a sight.
The SDA-SRS speakers were in really good shape physically anyhow. He didn't have them hooked up to anything when I was there so I couldn't listen to them (his shop is a total mess). He did mention to me that the speakers were 'on their way out'. I assumed that meant he had a buyer lined up (whether or not that's you he's referring to, I don't know).
I bought an Onkyo TX-DS777 reciever off the guy while I was there and he was nice, fairly knowledgeable and easy to work with. I'll definately go back the next time I need something.

Because they need to be around $1100, $1500 is high for SDA SRS's in the PA area

eliminator - Get your ears on those RTA-8's, then decide if you really need the SRS's at that price. you can always hold out and hope he drops the price. At least in the meantime you'll have some vintage polks to listen to.

I stopped in last night. I was in the area and I drove by on my way home and saw his light on so I stopped.
He was setting up the SRS's. The rack of audio equipment that he has them connected to is increadable. He first has a Carver C19 tube preamp, then he has a Carver SD/A490t tube cd player. He has 4 Carver TFM6cb's bridged powering the speakers. I could not get over how great it sounded.
He took some pics so I know he is going to be sending them to you. I do have to tell you if I was in the market for a set of speakers those would be at the top of my list right now. Increadable is not saying enough.

Sources are great gear, amps are the wimpy ones. Put amps with more power and you would have been knocked over with golden sounds.

They might be the low end TFM6cb's but when bridged they are 180 watts and he has two going to each speaker. There was some power going to these when I was there.

I have only seen one other set of SRS's in this area in the last 2 years. They sold for 1200 on eprey and were beat to hell.
I just purchased the SDA-SRS's from Tom(the owner) on July 3,2009, as well as, 4 Carver Amps.
I truly could not have asked for a better experience than doing business with Tom.
Not only was I able purchase my dream speakers, I was also able to get my favorite Amps as well.
Tom has such an awesome selection of audio gear, I could barely contain myself........did I mention that I was treated to several great beers and got to listen to some great music ? All the while celebrating Tom's birthday.
I apologize for rambling on Gentlemen but I have not been able to really "talk audio" with someone, at least since my old favorite store in Pittsburgh went out of business(Audio Junction), until I met Tom at VintageHiFi of Pittsburgh.
It was truly a wonderful experience and look forward to continue doing business with Tom and wish him nothing but the best of success.
Sincerely, B.B.3

They are a great set of speakers. I have had the pleasure of listening to them several times as I have had the chance to stop in several times.
Happy listining.

Wow Lasareath! That is a wonderful job you did on bringing those SRS's back to life.
Thank you Gentlemen. I will get some pics up as soon as I can get everything arranged in the room.......
Those SDA-SRS's are going to be used for the left and right channels and I plan on integrating my Polk RTA 15TL's(which happen to have the same walnut finish as the SDA's, boy did I luck out....) for either the side or back surround channels, along with my 2 Velodyne F1500's.
Now I just have one small problem. I still need to buy a serious center channel and 2 more speakers for either the side or back surrounds to go along with those Carver Amps. Was thinking maybe going with something in the Polk RTi range ? What would you Gentlemen recommend ?----Thank You Again.----B.B.3
