My wife Janey surprised me with a belated Birthday gift today. The Deluxe Edition of The Moody Blues-Days of Future Passed, SACD. I'm not a huge fan of the MB's, although I really dig the tune Nights in White Satin. I must say that this SACD kicks ass. I would highly recommend this one even if you're not much of a fan either. Beautifully mastered. The second redbook bonus disc adds a nice touch. 5 out of 5 from me on this one.

It was a pretty interesting album. Never heard anything on SACD, but I've spun it on vinyl and standard redbook. Certainly not one of the MB's strongest album... but I never though the full orchestra was really good for them. Way too complicated for a touring band.

This SACD is a little hot on the volume, but overall it sounds pretty good Joe. I think it's a German import.

The Moody Blues SACDs originally weren't supposed to be available in the US. However, I guess Universal Music saw that US demand for the SACDs far exceeded their expectations, so they imported the SACDs for "official" release here.
