Who didn't see that one coming? I'm glad though. I like Cap. :)

What a shame, I suppose anyone that believed Rogers would stay dead is pretty naive, myself included. I was enjoying the Barns version of Cap, oh well. There is a reason they call them "comic book deaths".

Does this mean we're going to see a Captain America film? They tried this once and it flopped -- I hope they can do it again and get it right; it would definitely be a cool Marvel character to explore...
Wonder how this will fit in with the AVENGERS project hinted at during Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk...

This was being planned before any Steve Rogers resurrection in the comics. The movie franchise has a life and continuity of it's own. Regardless of what is happening in the comics, the Cap movie will be a new creation story that ties in with the formation of the Avengers, or at least that appears to be the plan.

So, we are going to see a Cap film that's irrespective of the one that came years ago which turned out to be a dud?

The working title of the film is "The First Avenger : Captain America" to be released in 2011, which will be a re-telling of his origin story and the creation of the Avengers, which would involve the other Marvel characters that have been featured in recent films ie Iron Man, the Hulk and the upcoming Thor(2011). The whole plan sounds pretty adventurous, but if they can pull it off, it would be something.

Hi,
Unassuming Army officer Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America.
