I just watched it last night, and its a very good movie. Best movie I watched this summer, I'm glad it didn't let me down.

Fantastic film, watched it on Blu last night. Great PQ but something is up with the sound from the front channel, had to understand voices, too loud or too soft at times. I did have to bump my CC up a notch and all was fine but there were a couple scenes where the voices were then too loud. Not sure what, if anything is wrong or if it was done with intention.

Several of my family members are extras in this movie from all the scenes they shot in Darlington. :) It was a very cool experience here.

I tried to watch it...it was ok. I'll give it another go when my wife is not asking me to turn it down every time they shoot.

Eh... It was just okay for me. Everyone's good in it, but nothing really stands out and I don't think it's worth owning. I had the same issue with dialogue being very inconsistent, even when I had Dynamic EQ engaged.

I would not own this one... saw it in the theater... it was top notch acting, of course (Depp is my favorite male actor by far) but I just didn't get into this. It kinda dragged along, and didn't hold my attention.
I might give it another try on video... wasn't impressed in the theater version though.

I heard this was good and I like JD. Haven't took the time to rent it, yet. Probably snatch it up this weekend with the new Harry Potter.

The acting was great across the board, i just wasn't really THAT drawn in by the storyline. I'm glad i watched it, but i won't buy it.
Bale's accent pissed me off.

Agreed with Ron. The BD had very good PQ and SQ. I mean picture perfect to me. Well worth the coin. Good movie from start to finish. I was hoping Johnny lived...........but. The music was also very good in this one, some real old stuff.

Picture quality was excellent. Sound quality was good overall, however at times the dialog especially from Depp was muddied. Like all Hollywood films portraying a historical character, there are some fictional "Hollywood-elements" thrown in. That being said it was certainly one of the best of 2009 and is highly recommended on Blu-Ray.
Excellent casting with the "over the top" Depp playing Dillinger, "understated" Bale playing agent Purvis, "doe-eyed" Marion Cotillard playing girlfiend Billie, and "steel-eyed" Stephen Lang playing Texas Ranger special agent Winstead.
I'm looking forward to the in-depth review from Mike.

Too bad you really missed a good movie. At least the gun shots should have kept you awake.
To enjoy the movie, you need to get into the characters. Sometimes after a long day of work it isn't so easy to do that.

It was ok. I don't mind a movie with a slow pace IF the story is intriguing enough to carry it. However I too fell asleep half way through watching this. I resumed it later and was reasonably entertained to the end. What I didn't like was the lack of character development. I ended up not caring about anyone in the film and because of that found the whole movie to be somewhat cold. I contrast this film with Road To Perdition where I actually was sad when the cold blooded killer played by Tom Hanks dies. That movie had feeling and depth. Public Enemies just told the story the way the screenwriter saw it. Not much emotion until the end with John's girlfriend. One thumb sideways.

Watching it now on BR, pretty good so far. The PQ would probably be better if I had a higher refresh ratio tv "only 60hrz" but still looks good.

Oh, man... you are SO right on the money about the comparison to Road To Perdition. God, I wish that movie was available on BD.
