Just got my first set of good speakers and i've never seen anything like this before. What do I do?

Welcome to Club Polk. What model speakers did you get? If there are 2 pairs of binding posts on the back of each speaker, there SHOULD be a jumper connecting + to + and - to -, leave it in place. IF not, no sweat, just cut a small piece of wire to connect the same polarity poles together.

There should be a pair of jumpers that go between the posts (one between the reds, one between the blacks). If they don't have them, you can use any wire to connect them.

Most speakers have two pairs of posts so that they can bi-wired or bi-amped. One pair goes to the highs, one to the lows.

I got the RTi A3. Is the jumper the gold plate?

YES. Leave it in place. Just make sure when you conect the speaker wires that you remember which is + & -, and keep them the same between the speakers and the rcvr./ amp.:)
If your using lampchord, or speaker wire, one of the strands should have writing on it. Just designate that to either + or - and keep the same.
