View Full Version : Cleaning the insides of electronics/amps

For components that are vented on top, I would imagine that quite a bit of dust could get inside and build up over the years, thus creating potential heat. I took the rear panel off of my Mits RPTV a month or so ago, and it was caked with dust. I blew it all out and cleaned the lenses and mirror...made a huge difference and I would imagine it could increase the life of the electronics reducing heat.

For amplifiers, pre/pros, or receivers, does anyone perform internal cleanings/blowouts from time to time? It's critical on PC's and will make a difference on your longevity for sure.

I do all my electronics about once a year.

I dust surfaces regularly. When idle I keep dust covers over vented components.

Air compressor and a blower, but use caution, some blowers can damage internal parts if you are careless.
