naked wire vs plug vs banana plug

sorry i mean pins and banana pins
whats the difference? i just bought belking pureAV 100ft 16 gauge speakerwire it came with 4 pairs of plugs. they sound wonderful and look beautiful compare to my old alluminum ones came with my old klipsch speaker.

i wonder what does these plugs do?
isnt plug naked wire into speaker and receiver enough? and why theres banana plugs? whats the difference? do they improve soundquality (i thought more plugs is worse)?

I use them to ensure a proper connection to my speaker/amp when hooking things up together. Also you don't have any wire sticking out to make any contact with the other end in case that were to ever happen (maybe you bump into something etc). Also imo its a much cleaner install.

IMO
there are various methods sold to provide mechanical connections
many were original designed for a specific application
ring and tip for example was developed for the telephone industry.

just keep to the fundamentals.
strong, clean, and easy to service connectors will be fine.

If you plan on connecting and disconnecting frequently then choose something
appropriate.

The banana plug (male) and banana jack (female) was
invented in 1924 by Richard Hirschmann

I think the pins would come in handy if you have the clip type binding post as they are very thin and small. Nanner plugs are thick and plug in to the binding post. Most people use them for convenience if they are plugging and unplugging their gear often. I use nanner plugs as I like the way they look and the ease of use when disconnecting my gear. I don't think there is a proven sonic improvement using them.

It's just a matter of convenience, theyre not required at all.

Thanks, after seeing a set of four in BB go for over $20 and they sucked. These are real good quality and don't come off, and less than $17 for 24, and I just ordered 24 more for the hell of it.

I might just order some as well, my HT speakers are plugged straight in via wire. Only using plugs for my SDA's, tho it might be a bit tricky plugging all pins/plugs in the back of my Denon, think I'll just do it on the speakers end in case I just want to perform a quick swap while leaving cables in place.

I like to just use good cables, I feel you get better contact with bare wire.
