It dawned on me that I should probably clean something inside of my ARCAM CD72 CDP. I looked through the manual and it was no help at all. I have run some disc that supposedly cleans the lens or something but I doubt it does the proper job.
I also tried the forum search but was little help. Any suggestion?
Thanks

I used a cleaning disc on mine a few years ago and if my memory serves me correctly someone told me that it was a big no-no as it could possibly scratch the lens. I'm not sure if that's true or not and I haven't used it since then.

I've opened mine up, exposed the lens, gently cleaned it with some alcohol using a q-tip, greased the rails a little bit, and closed it back up. Worked great for me, as I was having a problem with my player not reading disc's more and more frequently. Cleaning it fixed it right up.

The only alcohol I have around is what I drink. Thats not what I should use I am sure. Is there any type I should use? I think my wife has some that she uses to clean wounds LOL

Get PURE isopropyl; you should be able to find some at Radio Shack or the like. DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL as it will leave residue.

Make sure you do not press down on the lense! You can knock it out of alignment and damage it. You are not there to scrub the coatings off the lense, only to remove dust particles and any build up film. VERY lightly lubricating, as said, is a good idea.
