Got this one in my email today. I'd really like to hang these @#$%^&* by their scrotes.
Complements of the day to you,
My name is Sgt. Mark Wallace, I am an American soldier serving in the military of the 3rd Infantry Division Armored Division in Iraq, as you know we are being attacked by insurgents everyday and car bombs. We managed to move funds belonging to Saddam Husein's family in 2003.
The total amount found $100 million and 90 million euros in 31 containers and US$7.5 Million dollars in cash in United States Dollar bills, this money has been kept somewhere outside Baghdad for sometime but with the speculated troop withdrawal by president Obama, we are afraid that the money will be discovered hence we want to move this money to you for safe keeping pending the completion of our assignment here.
You can go to this web link to read about events that took place then via this site: ( http://XXXXX/2/hi/middle_east/XXXXX.stm ) we are ready to compensate you with good a percentage of the funds, No strings attached, just for you to help us move it out of Iraq.
Iraq is a war zone, so we plan on using diplomatic means in shipping the money out as military cargo using diplomatic immunity. If you are interested I will send you the full details, my job is to find a good partner that we can trust and that will assist us. Can I trust you? When you receive this letter, kindly send me an e-mail signifying your interest including your most confidential telephone numbers for quick communication also your contact details.
This is risk free.
With regards
Sgt. Mark Wallace

How stupid do they think people are?
Sadly, some people fall for this kind of crap Joe.
That' the WORST one I've seen because it preys on people's sentiments, troops, and the war! Pretty LOW stuff!!
Normally it's just a Nigerian Prince/ess or something?

There was a documentary that covered these types of scams, and it usually involved some type of "internet dating." The scammer apparently was stationed or deployed overseas, and over a short course of time he develops an "online relationship" with a victim hes met in a chatroom/personal ad's/etc. They gain the victims' trust and ask for money to ship gold and other valuable materials but needs to pay so in cash so he has the victim wire him/her money to help pay those fees and upon return to conus he will reimburse her+interest/etc. Some of these women have been put in debt and have gone bankrupt, destroying their credit and their lives it was horrible and really sad to watch.

Yeah, this crap is tiresome. My wife and I are shopping for a minivan and were looking on craigslist. There was an odyssey minivan and I told her it was a scam and not to even attempt contact. She didn't listen. The "van" was a 2005 loaded with 50,000 for $4,900. The guy e-mails her back and says he is a Naval officer stationed in London, yada, yada, yada. Send the funds and I will deliver the van. Needless to say, we didn't.
The crazy thing is that if you look on craigslist there are a load of cars for $4,900, all to the same guy. Must be some law about $5,000 and above being a felony or something. But, he also states that he is a naval officer in the US NAvy stationed in London. It's got to be against the law to impersonate a member of the armed forces, doesn't it?
I wish I had saved the e-mail; it was a gem.

I don't feel bad fot the peole who fall for these scams. Anyone who would agree to help steal money, deserves what they get. The only people who would fall for this are just as bad as the scammers.

This has been around a while, but should probably still be reported, maybe they can find someone that can be prosecuted.
Here is a link to an Army CID document that has links for reporting on page 2

Africa.
Actually,I want to buy the XBox 360 for my son who is looking at his
call to the priesthood. He is currently doing his pastoral study at
St. Jude's Catholic in Africa. He laments that life in Africa is very
boring although he is gradually adapting to the new environment.I have
a very tight schedule at the moment due to the nature of my job and
would like you to please help me ship it to him once the payment
reaches you.I can pay you right away through the Authorised Paypal
Service.I have a premier account with the paypal.I would like the
shipping through USPS Express Mail International for safe
delivery.shipping it through USPS Express Mail International will cost
around $140.I will be paying you $420 for both the cost price and the
shipping fee.I will send you his address once the payment reaches you.
I look forward to hearing from you so soon.

This one pi$$es me off on several points, but the most maddening is the maligning of U.S. troops as being thieves and war profiteers by claiming they are taking monies that belong to the government and smuggling it out of the country. I would like a few moments alone with this jackoff just for making that accusation.

I've seen the same thing in the rentals section while helping some friends move to SD county. Out of country landlords and the rent is unusually low for the area......
